Tyler Cruz has lost everything?

Don't take this is fact, I've just noticed a correlation between two blog posts I've read today.

First, John Chow wrote how me met with Tyler Cruz, and mentions that at the time of writing all his sites were down:

"Tyler got hit by Murphy’s Law during his vacation. His server and all his sites, including his blog, went down on the day he left and they are still down as I write this. Hopefully, Tyler will be able to restore everything when he gets home later tonight." - John Chow

I also subscribe to SelfMadeMinds.com and Al mentioned in his latest post that:

"This is not public news yet but I’ve heard on the grapevine that a well known online entrepreneur suffered a server failure and has lost his entire site worth mid $xxx,xxx so please take this as a warning and backup, NOW!" - SelfMadeMinds.com

I don't want to spread lies, but I'd find it strange if these two things didn't relate too each other. If it's true I'm surprise no backups were made, as if I had a forum that large I'd have offsite backup, onsite backups, raid 5, and all that good stuff.

I just felt like being a detective.

He's either literally sick or feeling sick from losing everything.

Also, you don't have to be a dick about it. I know people don't really like Tyler on these forums, but still, it's not good to hear about people losing everything. I just thought this detective work would fit with WF as it always seems to have the breaking stories.
 
I think just another way to grab attention ! He surely must have all the backups.
 
I thought it was interesting as well, that both post were made on the same day and Tyler does call himself an on line entrepreneur.

But if your sites making you $xxx,xxx a year went down would you not cut your vacation a bit short?
 
Clearly a plublicity stunt. With sites of that value i think he'd invest in a backup drive.
 
He's probably making big bucks playing snap or happy families that the mere pennies his blog makes is insignificant. Looking @ the cache the turd's bragging because he made $1,746.14 in March Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Probably just link bait. If its not, and this kid lost everything bc he didn't back up, he deserves it.

When your business is 99% digital files, you need to have them backed up so redundantly that a nuclear winter / tsunami that takes out your country / or digital jihad can't destroy all copies.

I personally have everything on their individual hosts, backed up on my desktop, also backed up on an external, also backed up to another overseas host. In addition to that, any significant coding / design I do for a project is burned onto a DVD and stored in my safe deposit box.

Am I paranoid? Yes, extremely. :stonedsmilie:

Do I waste tons of time doing this? Not really, maybe adds 1% to my work load, if that.

Will I ever lose money due to a shitty host / host failure / hacking / code bug that corrupts my DB? Absolutely not.

I've made it such a part of my work routine that i don't even have to remind myself to do it, its second nature.

If this is for real, hopefully it was worth the lesson for him.
 
Tyler Cruz is a joke. No way are his shitty web properties worth mid 6 figures. On top of being one of the biggest idiots in the industry, he's an arrogant prick.

Read some of the older posts on this blog... there are some entertaining ones about him.
 
I'm fairly certain he doesn't have any xxx,xxx.00 value sites. I mean, as above, he is -way too stoked about his 1700 blog earnings for him to be making that kind of $.

Anyway, if he doesn't have a backup it's his own damn fault.

this really sucks for me b/c i visit it regularly, and its been down for like 5 days now.
I don't know much about him personally, but I think poker forums is worth alot:

its got a ton of ads
and alot of keyword in the posts become affiliate links, so I bet he gets a good amount of money from affiliates.
difficult niche. Tons of poker sites out there, his isnt the best, but it has a good amount of users on it.
