The only column that is interesting to me, is 2008A.

The projections are meaningless.

From the standpoint of an affiliate (or even a "super affiliate") the actuals are no more or less worthless than the estimates. I think the chart is more informative when looking at it as a distribution of where dollars are spent categorically as opposed to how many dollars are spent from one category to another, and in that regard the distributions will probably stay within a few percentage points of their current values. I wouldn't regret getting into the the sports niche because its 2008 actual revenue was only 2.7 billion as opposed to 3 billion, conversely I wouldn't get into the music/movie niche just because it's expected to eclipse the 6 billion dollar mark (going from 5.5 to 6.2.)

Whatever your philosophy for picking an industry to target is up to you, but a case for making use of the estimates could be made if an affiliate wanted to target the one industry that is expected to grow more versus another, all else being equal. One aff might want to target OTC meds industry because the expected year over year growth is expected to be 18% (5.0A bil vs 5.9E) as compared to Computer Hardware which is expected to hit 6.6% year over year growth (25.5A bil vs 27.2E bil). Like I said this is macro level data and as it pertains to the affiliate industry at best it could probably influence on the strategic level as opposed to the tactical level.
