Does anyone know of a UK ringtone program that gives a code per ringtone to be either sent by text/sms or entered by calling a phone number?

I've spent the last couple of hours looking for one and the only thing I've found is Affiliate Programs for Mobiles (which is actually http://www.axyswebs.co.uk).

They state:

...The ringtone module comes with a UK premium rate number, which requires the user to enter a unique offer code together with their order. The unique code enables us to credit you with commission for each individual sale you generate. SMS and Credit Card ordering is also available...

But even after installing the module I can't see any number or codes - it just redirects to either Jamster or mobplay - which both ask for the phone number to be submitted.

I'm looking to promote this offline so the normal phone number submit isn't much use. Anyone know of anything? Cheers.

In case anyone else is looking for this sort of thing, I've found that Wapfly: Home Page – Welcome to Mobilize! offer this service and their affiliate managers are very friendly and helpful. (Which is a good job, because there are no online docs or help for their system.)

Not sure how valuable the UK market is with ringtones. I mean, you're a Brit, so don't all of the phones over there have the ability to just upload your own ringtones from an mp3 file? The US market is a year or two behind you guys, plus most people are idiots here and would signup for just about anything without ever reading the fine print.

But I know for a fact that the UK SMS market is HUUUUUGE and fairly untapped for now. Watch, now everyone is going to run there..

The latest mobiles over here have built in mp3 players which can hold 100's of songs, and you can choose any song you like as your ringtone.

Mind you, most kids have mobiles these days, so if you are going to target the UK ringtone market, aim for the teens (they're all thick as shit).

I'm planning on mostly promoting this offline - my dad promotes tribute bands, the initial idea was to tie in with that. So I was looking for a program with codes to text in, rather than entering a number online. By including relevant offers on posters and flyers it should cover his advertising costs.

It's a one of payment rather than subscription, maybe not the most profitable long term but will pay ok if people buy them - £3 a tone (about £1.80 commission) - seems pricey, but there are idiots in England too! and a lot of people with fancy phones, but don't use the internet. I'm going to setup a site to support it with the same system (looks really flexible) and also promote some free tone/subscription offers, but it'll be mainly aimed at people who don't have computers or aren't online.

Wapfly also offers some full songs and I'm an affiliate with some other companies that offer mp3 downloads direct to phones - so it's got me thinking about going in that direction sometime.

UK Mortgage leads (esp. for second homes) + Payday loans...-what's your opinion for this?

Mortgage leads is a very competitive area. Payday loans could work, but they are not as well known here as in the US. I have not seen any adverts from the big lenders over here, so could be worth trying.

Don't know why the fuck we are talking about mortgage leads in this thread? Please start a new one.

You need to lease a shortcode. Not sure what they cost in the UK, but in the US you are looking at around $1500 a month plus fees. This isn't cheap stuff to do, your overall risk/investment to get started could be in the tens of thousands of dollars along with all kinds of fine print and contracts to sign.

Are you talking about mortgage leads or ringtones?

Ringtones, you specifically asked about the codes.

I thought so. :D

I found a provider that gives a short text number (and a premium rate phone number) free and sets up keywords for each affiliate. Got a spreadsheets (& an sql db) full of tones and other content, and they seem to pay well.

So the customer just sends HIPPYTONES 123212 to 81212 (or whatever). Seem to be pretty good.

I certainly wouldn't pay $1500 a month to jump into a competitive market I have no experience of!
