Participating dealers will give you $3500 or $4500 trade in allowance for your tired old shit toward a new vehicle. Start paying your PPC tab with a GM card and then knock off another $2000 - $3000 with GM points. You may be in for some win given the current fire sale prices. Who knows what other rebates might be available. Don't plate it and avoid the excise tax and then flip the car as unused and potentially bank $5500 - $7500+ depending on incentives or if you sell at a slight loss and take into account what you think your shit was really worth.

Yeah this has become pretty widespread over the past year or so. Good idea though, any car over 25 years old that you would trade in for $4500 isn't going to be of much of a loss.

Bad for the federal budget, good for consumers. My parents just took advantage of this by trading in a 95 Jeep Cherokee rust bucket. I doubt the thing was even worth $500.
