I'm working on a large project right now. Part of the website will be collecting leads for a very niche service industry.

There is some, but not a lot of competition online, and all of the ads I've seen doing my research are for the actual companies, I haven't seen any other lead brokerage type of sites.

The niche is very localized, meaning if I collect a lead in LA I'm going to have to find a company in LA to buy the lead or give me a commission on the sale.

So, I'm going to have to contact hundreds of companies all across the US with this project. Here's my problem.

I'd prefer to just sell the leads outright to 4 or so companies per lead. But that'd mean every time I collect a lead I'm going to have to telemarket to these businesses and try to sell these time sensitive leads to them. That would suck.

Option B would be just to contact 4 or so companies per lead, explain who I am, find the best rate for the customer, and then make sure I get a commission from the company. The tricky part would be making sure they follow through on their end when they make the sale. I guess I could bill the customer, take my cut, and then pay the company, but that'd add more work to the equation, maybe enough work to not make it worth my time.

Any advice on this?

I'm very familiar with what your trying to do man. The best way is to telemarket companies. THere is no easy way.

You need to find regular buyers for the leads so once you find them, then your cool.

I know your being secretive but it would help if I knew the service industry because I have been in it for quite sometime. You can PM me if you'd like and I will keep on the DL.

Thanks for the reply BYA, I was actually hoping to get a response from you, I know that's what you do in the mortgage industry.

Just for shits and giggles lets say I'm collecting leads for house cleaning services, it'd be a very similar process as far as what I'm trying to do here.

So my website would pitch it like "Let us find the best possible deal on house cleaning in your area!" or some shit like that. So I get a lead from bumfuck Kentucky, I need to figure out a way to make money off of it.

Finding consistent buyers would be tough, because it is very localized. I'm thinking it might be easier to call, get pricing, add in another $50 for myself, and then pass the quote along. The tough part would be making sure I get paid.

Yes that would be tough for tracking. Most seasoned lead sellers find that one buyer that will buy all leads and is reliable with money.

OK, say its cleaning houses, I would go to say Meri Maids HQ's director of sales or marketing and see if there is a market for what your selling and maybe they have something already set up.

The key here is how much is that lead worth on the market. A mortgage lead right now can go from $30 on the low end to $100+ for a highly qualified lead with filters and even then mortgage brokers know that the industry average is 5-10% right now on closing ratios with leads. So a broker could buy 100 leads and expect to close 5-10 deals. So its the law of numbers and ROI.

Depending on the industry, you will be faced with this same issues and I think the best bet is to be nice as ypou can and just do some calls and see if there is a market for what your selling and what it cost them to precure a sale.

This is definitley the hard part of generating your own leads but I feel if you have something here and you do the work that it can be your golden goose man.

Now your ass needs to network and email as many people as you can in the industry but remember that everyone is leery of lead sellers because there are a lot of rip off artists ou there.
