This is a plugin that puts a message in the userbox (top right) that tells you the number of unread posts on the forum and links to a page that lists them. It's a great tool, I would love to see it on here!
Yeah, I wish VB had a new posts search by default. IPB has it and I use it religiously on any of the IPB powered boards I visit. It's not so much of an issue now that the fourms are small, but as it grows I think it would be a very useful feature.
