A US Airways jet has crashed in the Hudson River. Passengers have been
seen standing on the wing of the plane, and emergency personnel and
vehicles are on the scene. The flight is 1549. Fox News is reporting that
there is a possibility that a flock of birds that hit the plane and perhaps
that forced the pilot to put the plane down in the water.

US Airways Crash: Hudson River (Photos, Video) Rescue Underway

One report cites and associated Press employee that says she was a
witness to the plane crash and the plane looked as if it was just gliding
along the water.

CNN cites the FAA also saying it may have been a bird. a passenger is cited
from the network as well saying that the pilot told the passengers to
prepare for a crash. It is not yet known how many survivors, but a source
has told Shep Smith of Fox News that everyone survived.

Plenty of video and photos here and even more here as well. It is being
called a miracle that the pilot was able to put the plane down in the middle
of the Hudson.

NO DICKROLLS INCLUDED.... :(

Those people are SO FUCKING LUCKY to have made it out of that alive.

Those pilots had balls to try and land a plane in the river so as to not hurt people on the ground.

As they say, any landing you can walk away from is a good one. Although I don't know if swimming counts.

How much do you want to bet some schmuck on that plane is now going to sue because of damage to their luggage because they didn't pay the $9 extra to get it insured?
Like those dicks that try to commit suicide, fail because someone saves them, so they end up suing the guy for injuring them.

My dad works in a building next to the ferry pier in Weehawken. He said literally the entire building got up and went outside to see if there was anything they could do. Nearly all of them are 9/11 survivors/ bystanders or knew someone affected... so this was especially cool to hear about.

And all of us having just gotten off of flights yesterday or the day before should be thanking our lucky stars (or our respective Vishnus).

I had a bud who was a pilot in training. Man the crap that he had to know. If I remember right they had 35 in the class , and the usual is only 8 or so pass. The kicker is the failures dont get the money back, and is pricey, its a do or die. He was a pertty smart feller. So usually your in good hands.

On the other hand i almost got my pilots license for a cesna (just had to finish my crosscountries). Not so very difficult .

Another thing i found interesting ( not that im fond of dwi laws ) . Your not allowed to have a drink of alchol 12 hours before you fly , what ever licence you have, if ever caught , loose it 4ever.

Any other pilots here to confirm ?

My sister called to tell me about it about half an hour before my flight left las vegas. I'm glad no one was hurt and that pilot definitely did a great job, he is a hero.

Pretty awesome no one dies. Props to the pilot, I could never imagine trying to land a plane of 150+ people into the water and making it through it alive. Lucky stars to all.
