I changed the topic on a wordpress site and now suddenly the site is getting traffic for the old subject again.

I want to redirect referrers that have any one of half a dozen keywords in the url.

Will adding a local .htaccess file in the wordpress directory be a problem for wordpress?

Also considering using this,
WordPress › Redirection WordPress Plugins
does anyone have experience with it or perhaps another plugin that would do the job?

You can just add a line to the do your redirects with the existing htaccess file........... but keep a copy somewhere because wordpress will overwrite it if you change anything with it through wp later.
