Valentine's Day, that over commercialised bullshit day, is nearly on us again so if you have any flower/perfume/romance/etc related LPs on ice, now is the time to ramp them up and increase your spend.

Anyway - I am running the PPC campaign for a big local flower delivery service and so I'm trying to plan the budget but I'm an unromantic sod and I'm not sure what normal Valentine's day buying behaviour is.

I'm planning to peak the daily spend from 3 days before the 14th and keep it high for 3 days afterwards (for my fellow forgetful bastards who will be scrambling to get flowers and shit in a hurry after valentine's day if they ever want a blowjob again!)

So the question is, how long before Valentine's does the average guy order flowers, or do they all wake up the evening before and order just before midnight?

Also (a question for the ladies)... I know woman are the #1 group for buying flowers online generally - but in general, do chicks order flowers for valentine's day (apart from lesbos with girlfriends)?

All the average guy wants is a six pack and a blowjob, but because of the women's expectations, well all be spending a fortune on them again...
 


i think most guys do it in the morning of valentines days o the day before, not sooner. mainly they go to job, sit in front of pc order flowers over net and thats it.

the other good niche for this are chocolates.
 
I just called a few florists to get a feel for this Valentine's thing. Yes - the day before is generally huge, but this year valentines is on a SUNDAY... if you are going to be pushing anything, I am advised that it was best to start a week ago (!) but this year the BIG valentine's spending spike is expected to start the Wednesday before Sunday the 14th and run until Saturday (most places don't deliver on sundays).

There will also be quite a lot of spending on the Monday and Tuesday (so guys who forget can say "bloody florists - I DID order waaay early but they cocked up the order and now can I have my blowjob please")

I always call my florist five days in advance and place my order. And he delivers them on Valentine's Day. Or the day before if it's on the weekend.
 
Apparently i bought some roses 2 years ago for valentines day and there was a class action suit against the company for charging a "shipping fee" for something that wasn't shipped but rather outsourced to a local florist to be delivered. So i got a free $10 gift card from the company....just in time for Valentines day. That being said, i have already ordered my flowers to be delivered on Valentines Day. Usually i am a procrastinator and do it the day before, but this year was a change.
 
Me order flowers? Your man is supposed to give you flowers. And why 'order' them for $40 and $15 shipping when you can get a $12 dozen bouquet?

I get my guy a card, maybe write a love poem and include a picture of us. And I try to think of anything else I can do. I also get dressed up to the hilt for his viewing pleasure and do whatever he'd like to do.

I don't need a freaking diamond ring and $55 special ordered bouquet.

Just a few grocery flowers, a card and maybe some chocolate. But he usually doesn't get all of them at the same time anyway. What I like most about valentine's day is just being with him.
 
I'm rather upset that the only day someone would think to bring flowers and chocolate has to be on a money induced holiday like valentines day.

Same for christmas.. why can't we randomly receive presents?

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a waste of money. Someone buys you flowers and then what? They sit in a vase and die.
