wait...was he armed or anything? Looked like he was sitting there with his back towards the swat team, then they tased him, and he DIED. I mean, I hate murderers just as much as the next guy, but I'm pretty sure protocol is to apprehend the suspect so long as he is not threatening an officer

It's possible that he was looking like he was going to jump and they tazed him to keep him from doing that. If we were the cops there, we would rather just arrest him than have to go through the all the consequences of the alternative. My cop friends have told me that this outcome is considered a failure because it is not what the entire justice system was created to do. I am sure all the cops there were a lot more bummed out and horrified than us.
It was this guy's decision to go out on the edge of a cliff BTW. At a certain point we have stop blaming the cops for things other people do.

I thought this looked strange as well. He was right there at the edge, so if he didn't have a gun at the time I don't know why they would have tased him. Then again its his fault for not wearing a helmet.
I'm not too current on the situation, but to me it looks like he just jumped because the cops got too close. Dose it say anywhere he was tased?
He was holding a sword when he had his back towards the cliff. The police think it's the same sword he used to kill one of his coworkers with.

If he was tazed, you only have to fall a few feet to break your neck and die, because he probably froze up and couldn't break his fall. There's a video online of someone getting tazed on a ten foot wall and falling square on his neck and dying.
