I was listening to a program from Bob Proctor (You Were Born Rich) where he mentions the book 'Think and Grow Rich'. He mentions if you write a goal (which he even refers to as a lie) on a card and read it often enough, it can become true.

So the idea is you write your goal on a card and it becomes reality.

He also mentions he was earning $4k a year back in the day, was $6k in debt. He then used this method to take himself to some insane amount of $100k+ a year, literally within a year or two after the wrote the goal on a card.

I've heard Arnie used shit like this as well, to achieve his goals. In case you haven't noticed, he is a prolific goal achiever. ESPECIALLY considering he came from nowhere and couldn't even speak English.

Has this method worked for you? I've tried it and it's never worked. What am I missing!?!

You have to tap (not fap).

I'm tapping 2 hours a day and I'm ballin' with 82k a day.

I get this. I've had fitness and work successes but it's never been based around anything I've specifically written down. Just curious to see if anyone actually uses this method and to learn more about it specifically.

The nearest I can assume is that re-reading the goal strengthens the idea in your mind. Which then helps focus on a specific outcome. Kind of how a heat seeking missile works - intensified focus.

Anyone care to kick in more?

After you write down your goal you then have to work really hard to achieve it. That might be what you're missing.

Positive psychology and optimism are very powerful when used correctly i.e. in conjunction with hard work and dedication. The problem is Guru's sell it as a panacea, when it's just one small part of it.

I can't believe that Women posted above is actually tapping herself whilst spouting off about the law of attraction.

The law of attraction for me is pop psychology and poor approximation of the wealth of literature on motivation and outcome setting. One example which explains this better is Locke's Goal Setting theory which you can read about here Goal Setting Theory of Motivation

My interpretation is that the desirability of the outcome (goal) combined with the likelihood of success ultimately create the motivation. You can clearly see where positive psychology comes into this... if you BELIEVE you can do ACHIEVE the goal you have set, then you will work harder towards it, thus increases the chances of you actually reaching it.

/ My quick break understanding of these types of books.

So if I write I am next Bill Gates on a fucking card and read it often enough, the only thing that's confirmed is I will end up wasting a lot of time. PASS.

Depends. If you truly believed you would be the next bill gates you may start making the moves to become so.

The trick is to write achievable goals.

Anyone here, who is making $0 right now, can make $100,000 in the next 365 days, that is certainly achievable.

As goals are met, the achievable goals begin to evolve. Eg. It is much more possible to make $250K in the next 365 days, after meeting the $100K in 365 days goal; because of the acquired skills, connections, knowledge, capital, etc.

Of course anomalies in either direction are possible, and success doesn't just come down to organizing yourself for it. If this were true, secretaries would be millionaires.

This is the book you want.

The only thing you are missing is action. If you do something towards your goal everyday you will achieve your goals. It's not simply enough to write it down and stick it in a drawer. Even if its 10 minutes a day, do something. The bigger the goal the more time required.

That's it. That is the secret to success.

Edit. Don't worry there is no shame in taking the easy way out. After this thread dies you can go back to mediocracy. A year from now whenyourgoals are still unmet we will have long forgotten this thread.

I write down goals on a big whiteboard in my office and cross them out when i hit them. Not really the same thing but i find having them written down on a big board is more motivational than some to-do list app or whatever.

Yes, but this is it. If I write a goal down, 'action' and 'something' doesn't suddenly turn into something specific.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with what you're saying. But where do the specifics come from?

I wish Proctor had mentioned how exactly he went from $4k a year to $100k+. But all the examples in the program have non existant specifics, but people do give loads of examples of this system working for them.

I wondered how the specifics came to anyone who has used this successfully?

Bob Proctor applied his own technique successfully at least once.....

Objective: want to make a few thousand bucks easily.
Specifics: write yet another get rich book, giving tips that make the reader actually believe he can become a millonaire, including hints like "write your desire in card" and it will become real sooner or later.

Visualization works when it makes you focus on tasks that help you achieve your objective.

The specifics are dependent of the goal. I am sure he took his natural skills and put them to work. If your goal is to make a 100k you need to figure out for you how this is possible. This is part of your daily action. Maybe it's seeing 10 people a day. Maybe it's writing a chapter for a book. Maybe it's making a website or whatever. The fastest way to get to a 100k is to create it. The first hundred is the hardest. But I'm telling you all you need to worry about is taking action.

Figure out what you want. Then come up with a plan to get what you want. Then do something towards the plan each and every day. This really is simple, but its hard as fuck.
There is no magic recipie.

Everything is a figment of our imagination. You can change your reality by mentally doing so. Q cards, repeating it in your mind, etc. Multi-universe... ;)
