want to aquire a regged domain

the domain I wanted is owned by some redneck that has nothing more then a few lines off words on there. Its a company name,what they do and phone number.
I also checked the whois and the info is in there. boht email and phone numberr. I kind off doubt that he have done anything since he uploaded the stuff there when it was regged ten years ago but. The strange thing is that he registered it for 20 years...

Well what I would like to know how much should I offer???
The domain is a perfect keyword that gets 3,800 daily exact searches and its a product name. The competition is super weak and there is even ezine and go articles on the first page.

If the company is still in business, could be tough / expensive. Especially if they have email at the domain, the probably won't sell it.

If it doesn't seem to be in use, I usually start at $500. Enough to get someone's attention, but not a ton of cash.

Alternatively, I have had success one time finding an another name for a business (XYZCompany.com, XYZMedia.com etc.) so they had an alternative and could sell the domain.

I didn't think you could register a domain for more than 10 years.
 
Is the registrar Network Solutions?

I bet it cost at least $1000 to register it (10 yrs ago) with them for 20 yrs, but it's probably been long enough for them to realize they are not going to be internet billionaires.
 
lol I noticed alot of the Network Solutions users who have bought good domains will part with them for reasonable amounts

$1500 is a good number
