Dear Sun,

Please stop emitting excessive solar radiation so Matt can relax and not worry about rising sea levels and a deteriorating atmosphere.

I understand this is a natural cycle recorded numerous times over thousands of years but in the current state of knee jerk "eco-activism", this behavior on your part will no longer be acceptable.

Please return your solar output levels similar to the Little Ice Age so I can listen to a different set of "oh noez" for the next half century before I die.

The sabertooth tigers had an industrial revolution that warmed the planet dramatically and the dinosaurs had one before them. But like us they didn't recognize the folly of their ways. And look what happened to them. Wiped themselves out, melted all the ice caps and almost killed off the polar bears. It was up to the monkeys to breed them back to sustainable numbers.

My state was mostly covered by glaciers in the past. They melted and left behind the thousands of lakes that MN residents now enjoy. I have a beautiful 14,528 acre lake just outside my door/windows right now thanks to glaciers melting. :thumbsup:

Yes, the dinosaurs went extinct due to naturally occurring climate change too. However, that came in the form of a big ass rock that crashed into the planet from outer space, blocking out the sun.
 
Before dinosaurs , the Permian age was also the time when natural disaster wipe out more than 90% life from Earth.

In about a billion years the sun is going to run out of hydrogen and it will become a red giant. Overtaking the earth, boiling off the seas and returning out precious mud ball to molten rock like it began. While some ice moving around is nifty, call me when we no longer have a star in our solar system and the planets are gone, then I'll be seriously impressed with nature.

I have no idea, I'm not a geologist.

However, logic dictates in order for the Earth to experience an ice age, it can't get radiation from the sun. So either the sun magically turned off for a while, the distance between the Earth and sun dramatically changed for a bit, or something kicked up in the atmosphere to block the sun's radiation.

I don't know, but I'm going to guess on the latter. Asteroids crashing into the Earth, kicking up debris, blocking the sun. That tends to seem more plausible than the sun turning on / off, or the sun and Earth changing distance from each other.

The earths temperatures have never remained stable at any point throughout history. Never. The industrial revolution was 200 years ago, so how do you explain the same warming/cooling cycles throughout the rest of history?

In a related note, I used to take shits before I got into IM. In fact, I have always taken shits since the day I was born. However, now that I am in IM I take shits therefore IM must be giving me the shits. lolwut?
