Wearable Keyboards Anyone?

I've been searching for alternative computer keyboard/mouse interfaces that I can use while on the treadmill. They're pretty hard to find.. which is surprising. I've basically got a treadmill desk right now for the keyboard/mouse which pretty good but I've noticed the up/down motion of your body while walking on the treadmill can make typing/mousing irritating especially in games or when typing a lot.

I might buy this "chorded" keyboard called a Twiddler that I saw the 'human cyborg' MIT professor use on his "wearable computer" setup.

Supposedly you can type really fast with these things and people find it easier to learn than a qwerty keyboard.

I'd prob try to modify it for it to be bluetooth.. since it's not even wireless.. no idea why they wouldn't make it wireless.

Bluetooth USB Adapters | Tek Gear

Anyone have any experience trying to do anything similar?

Ok ok, I admit I just want to be productive while simultaneously jerking off.

I'll pass. Thank you though.

Ya obviously alternative wearable keyboard input devices are not very popular cause I couldn't find many options. So I'm not trying to sell the idea to anyone.. just wondering if anyone has any experience with it or some other nice treadmill setup.

I just stay off the computer when I'm exercising...

Well treadmill desks are gaining in popularity for a reason. We sit too much. Standing desks are nice but walking while working is prob even better.

I don't know.. maybe I'm being retarded.

If you ask me the technology is going away from typing and more towards speech recognition. It's what I used to type out this message.

Edit: Needless to say I'm not speaking out blog posts while I'm working out at the gym, I don't think I could concentrate on that.

As I said on the last Google Glass thread; there is a DESPERATE need for a wearable keyboard, especially when wearable computers are hitting the mainstream.

The reason isn't because people are going to be blogging or working while they're walking around or excersizing; voice control really could offer this functionality.

It's because people want PRIVACY.

Others can't see you type in queries for how to get to the porn shop and wives/girlfriends can't see you talking to that old girlfriend... But more practically, we all type in things many times every day that we just don't want others around us knowing what we're typing...

Taken together, we all probably spend 50% or more of our time on computers typing things that we'd rather not say outloud for voice command software to interpret.

Thanks to OP for posting the twiddler; once they put bluetooth on this it will be more useful than even they know. (But still not for everyone.)

The challenge in this field is giving the user the ability to not have to learn a whole new keyboard layout. Twiddler fails at this, but at least it doesn't look that difficult to learn.

I don't get the fascination with treadmill desks. Is it really so hard to get up and move every so often? I follow a 15-5 cycle, which is 15 minutes of sitting and five minutes of standing/moving around. It's the same except I don't have to be uncomfortable for 15 minutes walking on a fucking treadmill.

Instead of trying to work out at the office why not take 10 minutes out of your day to do a workout program, something like this...

The main reason is because of what I've heard about sitting down all the time. I don't know if it's true or not but what I've read suggests that even though a workout routine does help with some aspects of health it doesn't fully help the negative effects of sitting down all the time at the job. It's sitting down itself that fucks you. I could just use a standing desk but thought I'd try to go the extra mile and walk a ton more. Historically we used to be nomadic people that moved around a shitload more often during the day. Now we sit at a desk for 8-14 hrs a day and think we'll make up for it with a 30min exercise routine.

sorry, if you can type (heck , if you can READ) when exercising, you are not exercising.

That looks more complicated than a keyboard, I think I will stick with my trusty qwerty :) I can only concentrate on one thing at a time anyway though.
