Hi,
i know some on here run web design businesses as well as affiliate marketing. Was wondering if anyone had any experience buying leads for potential web design clients? I seem to have been offered quite a lot of these lately (ranging from £15 to £70 per lead, depending on quality).

most seem to have sort of large minimum orders though that make me think it might be a bit of a scam - they are just hoping on the first order and dont care that you then realise its a waste of £

hmm, good idea. i'd do the 35% thing if someone could get me clients w/ budgets over $5,000.

Don't waste your time, most of those leads you see are generated through "network wide" media buys that cost them $0.80 - $1.20 CPM and are advertised as "Have your own professional website today" so the quality is very low. If you'd really like to get clients, find forums that are focused on professionals in a certain industry. For example:

Insurance Agent Forum - insurance agents
BodyworkOnline.com :: Index - doctors/nurses/massage therapists etc

Both have sections about marketing/lead generation so you can network there and posts quick tips and offer advice. Try not to look too spammy though.

Another suggestion, when I was in my teens I'd do freelance web design and what I'd do is wait for those monthly "coupon packs" to come in the mail and then call them up and offer my services. This was probably the easiest way of getting clients back then but I don't know how effective it would be today. Also checkout any local/city/community magazines since they always have ads for local small businesses that are more likely to buy your services.
