Hey guys I just want to know if any of you guys are doing web hosting affiliate marketing, does it make profit for you(after using ppc cost)?

I am currently bidding at $2 per keyword and have around 30 specific ones such php hosting. My CTR is around 3.80% and positioning of around 4-6.

So my question is am I on the right path? and is anyone converting from web hosting offers? thanks

How's it converting? Many sales?

I've been thinking about running some hosting offers. While shopping around for myself I found some great affiliate deals - and now I understand why so many peeps here plug Hostgator ($100 commission - nice!)

A web hosting comparison site is somewhere on my list of 'someday' projects. For now I've got too much else on, but it's a very tempting niche. Competitive, but some great commissions.

I understand if you don't want to give details, but what sort of thing have you been promoting? Free/Shared/VPS/Dedi? If you are focussing on shared then you might want to check out the promo uk2.net have got on CJ - 100% commission at the mo.

Yes its very competitive, when I looked at it a few years ago many keywords were going for $4-7 CPC. Lots of web hosts themselves are participating in PPC, SEO, and there are a zillion hosting directories out there too.

I haven't got any conversion yet, but I am bidding on the basis that if I get 20-30 hits and make 1 sale, then I am making around $40-$60 USD. The key I think is using the price in the ppc ads and using the main services. I am linking direct to the advertiser just to test the market.
I am promoting Shared hosting only atm. As for comparison site for web hosting, I have seen few out there but I don't know think it is wise for PPC but would work perfect for natural searches.

Web hosting is an ultra competitive, commodity business, that has a lot of fraudulent orders. Used to run a web host (selling dedicated servers, reseller hosting, and shared hosting), and thank goodness I sold the business when I did.

It's a pretty tough market these days, but some niches still may be worth it.

Hosting is extremely competitive. Yesterday, I met someone who told me he's paid tens of thousands to buy links and other marketing efforts to get on the first page of google for a key hosting term for one site. Where did I meet him? I watched him spend $2000 right before my eyes on advertising within 3 days and I emailed to see if I can get a friendship there.

The only thing I can suggest, if your new to marketing, avoid this market like the plague. If you got skills, do it. Bring cash.

The easiest way to get into hosting? Owning a site like Wordpress.org that offers a open source software that needs hosting. They go hand and hand.

the other thing you can do is develop some killer software that works only with one web host.

sell your software and force an upsell to the host.

or better yet, set up a s/w demo site, get the guys to sign up for hosting, give them the software.

the software better be a killer though...

Talking about the andrew, I have just set up a deal where if people purchase web hosting from me then they get $50 off their development from $350 deal. I think thats pretty sweet deal for them.

Which CPA networks do you recommend for web hosting programs?

I know CJ has quite a few, but I would like some alternatives...
