Apparently dog flipping is becoming a "thing" where you take free or cheap dogs and then sell them for a profit. It's also apparently looked down on like a motherfucker (eg: Dog flipping and animal abuse tied to dogs listed on Craigslist » DogHeirs | Where Dogs Are Family « Keywords: dog flipping, Craigslist, scam). It doesn't seem like it would be inherently bad if you were taking care of the dogs, but maybe I'm missing something. So what do you fucks think about this?

Having worked in a related industry, I can tell you the majority of dog owners have no business owning a dog. So I can only imagine the people who are just "flipping dogs"...

Also, unfortunately this isn't that different from a lot of "Non Profit Animal Rescues"

As long as they are going into a safe and loving family, I don't see a problem with it.

It's either that or they get euthanized at an animal shelter.

If you screen the buyer and insist on a home inspection, I say go for it. If they refuse and you sell it anyway, may god damn you to an eternity of limp dicks

Considering how badly most "breeders" treat their animals, I couldn't see a dog flipper being much worse.

nothing wrong with dog flipping. As long as they are treated well and goto a nice home, there's no difference between breeder and flipping. In fact, flipping is more honorable imo, discluding people REALLY passionate about a breed

If someone is willing to give up their dog to you, there is nothing wrong with you taking care of the animal and selling it to a new owner for a bit more money. What is what makes it worth while to you as an individual or a business to take care of these animals while they have no home. It is a service to the community as well, since you are keeping the animals off the street.

The profit to be made is definitely a financial motivation to the whole thing.

It's your choice if you want to do this in a humane, or inhumane manner.

My mom started a dog rescue when she retired and it's a lot of work tbh. You have to have a country vet, in the country, who doesn't charge a fuckload of money because you get dogs with heart worms, parvo, etc. every disease in the book that spreads to any other dogs you have. If you have to quarantine after a nasty disease you basically have to take care whatever animals you have at the time for a few months until you're sure none of the animals are sick before moving them.

That's on the back end. On the front end you have to deal with all the fucking people you're placing animals with. That's hundreds to thousands of applications (over a year) from people you have to track down, talk to, verify, and meet with, let alone all the flaky people in the world who cause you inconvenience.

THEN there are returned animals. Some fucking dogs are just not place-able due to behavior or long term health problems, or even too much energy................................................................................................................................................................. and those people come crying to you......I had a lady I drove to meet to place a dog and it "panted" too loudly. Meanwhile you turned down other applicants you now have to contact to move the dog to get any money after eating whatever trip you made for nothing to the first person.

So yeah, you can get $350-$550 for a "free" animal after a lot of work and expense. Some animals (poodle crosses lol) are simple to place and take minimal effort, but it's still a lot of work and shit to put up with.

You also have to have a network to move animals and treat animals, when you find a cheap vet they can only do (spay, neuter, treat) so many of your animals in a week.... Also you have to be a "wheeler dealer" type of personality. My mom is mystifying when it comes to selling shit.

On a more serious site, if you're flipping dogs in this fashion, I'm obviously all for it:

Kudos goes to igl00 for originally posting the above vid.

^^ Sadly the USDA licenses class B breeders to profit from animals like that....they make more money if the dogs get heart worms as they can get more money for selling the heartworm infested heart (after cutting it out) to research institutions and universities.

Doubt anyone will watch it through but check out Dealing Dogs, the HBO documentary.

Yeah, that's one of my Boyz. That's actually his allergy face- he's in the middle of an epic sneeze, lol.

And just for the record- anyone who thinks they can profit from an animal without treating them right, well... I hope to meet you someday.

An ex girlfriend of mine flipped some dogs a couple months ago. Apparently made about 10 grand. Although I have to take this with a grain of salt as she also plans on making 10 G's a month telemarketing for Kirby vacuums.

Are you good at dog training? Have you owned dogs before? Just a dog can very quickly turn into a yappy bastard, and there's no way you're making a profit if it does. Also, bear in mind, you'll get raped on vet's bills, especially if one has something contagious like parvo, and subtract an hour of your time for each day you have the dogs for time spent walking them.
