There are many factors which usually affiliates have a look before joining any affiliate program and depending upon those factors they either remain loyal or go to other players in industry.

So let's discuss which are those factors which you as an affiliate consider most important. I am listing down few factors with its priorities, do let me know what are your views on it?

  • Commission - 1 (highest priority)
  • Product and its pricing - 2
  • Vendor's or merchant's brand or credibility - 3
  • Good and Quick Service from Affiliate Manager/team - 4
  • Good Banners and templates - 5
  • Number of products - 6
  • Good reports from affiliate panel - 7

I'd say

1. Having good (read: converting, possibly broad audience) offers and
2. Commission on those offers.

Both translates into a historical EPC and volume (network earnings). If you have offers with higher EPCs than the competition, you will win. For me it is also important to see good exclusive offers to consider a new network.

It also depends on the state the affiliate is in. Is he experienced and working with a lot of different networks he will look for different things (exclusive offers, payouts on known offers). Or is he rather new, then he will probably look for product conversions and payouts = EPC only (if he is smart ;)).

3. is affiliate manager and general help / push from the network
4. is payment models (conditions for weeklys)
5. is reporting, technical ease (i.e. pixel-tracking) and interface

I'd say payment cycles and ACH payments are important to affiliates paying for traffic. Payment terms shorter than NET30 are always a good selling point. Also being able to diretly wire money to affilaties is a definite plus.

booth sluts at trade shows that know nothing about affiliate marketing are always a plus..

i remember at ASE in boston there were bitches just walking around handing out condoms. sign me up with them!

Nice to see your replies..

Affiliates seem to be more interested in kind of products, their pricing and commission and in particular EPC.

Now lets compare two online affiliate programs.

One having :
All their legal information on site.
Product manufacturer information as well as suppliers address/info
Sell only branded products obvious priced high
Gives average commission say 10%
Conversion ratio say 2%

Second having :
No information on the site apart from products
None branded products being sold and no supplier information
Priced at very low/cheap price
Gives high commission say 30%
Conversion ratio same 2%

What will be the choice now?
