This isn't really blackhat as far as SEO is concerned but, it's some unethical ideas I have to promote my affiliate offers, so I was just wondering what some of you think.

I started doing tech support for a prepaid internet dial up company. I have access to all the customers contact info and e-mail addresses. I don't want to spam since I don't want to get sued (although these users are really noobs, don't think most would know what spam is).

I don't really like doing wrong stuff anymore but, I still can't help my brain wandering thinking of bad ideas. At first I was thinking to offer competitor deals if it's a better deal or phone service since this particular company offers phone service and internet access as a bundly. Phone companies that offer these bundles sometimes have DSL at a really good price, and the payout on these are really high.

I thought the phone/internet service could be unethical since I'll be taking away their customers and if they all of a sudden notice this drop maybe they'll want to look into it and see that coincidentally every person that has called in and spoke to me has eventually cancelled service.

So, then I thought I could try to market items such as video professor since most are noobs they might be interested. Maybe things such as e-bay for dummies, or how to make money online with e-bay. I think the particular demograph this company is targetting would be interested in work-at-home type offers. I could try to make an e-bay aff site or newegg since some of the users I have spoken to have out dated computers. Although, I don't know how well this would work since most of these people probably don't have much money, if they're paying for pre-paid service? Could it be since most don't have credit cards? Which is another problem if they don't have money then this isn't going to work.

I'm also not sure what would be the most inexpensive way to market these offers to them. I could mail flyers but, that could end up being costly. I could collect phone numbers and have a telemarketer call them every week although I don't see how I could have 1 person market all those offers to them at once, maybe have to decide on a particular offer, video professor? Then just see how it goes maybe build a particular website with all these offers on there. Have the telemarketer let them know to check out the website for all kinds of deals.

What do you think? I'm not really sure if I want to go through with this, I'm actually thinking about quitting again (can't hold a job for the life of me) and just concentrate on I.M. with my lack of motivation. Trying to promote to their customers would be my only reason that would make it interesting to stay there.

Yeah, I'm callin' 'bout one of them there work-at-home books?

Don't do it. You could get sued. It would not be hard for them to figure out what you did.

LOL at the picture of the guy on the toilet. That is funny as hell.

If you need an echo to Daniel's negatory, here's a second. Proprietary data, whether it be code, client lists, email, whatever... is viewed as sacred by your employer. In my previous life, I've terminated, sued, and/or pressed charges against newly departed/terminated employees, dependent upon the severity.

Now... if you were to pm me the email data, I could give you better insight. ;) Sounds like a nice, pre-qualified group.

I think you should quit your job immediately. The company you work for surely doesn't deserve such a loyal employee
