Curious what everyone uses to track their campaigns. A custom script? Something Free? Something you bought?

If you could share what you use, what the main features are, how much updating it requires, and how much you paid, that would be a huuuge help.

(as a bonus you can also say what its lacking)

thanks guys. trying to see all the options here....

did you use anything before that?
Google conversion tracking (I mainly push traffic to my own product sites). For AM, it's a hassle getting it on the advertisers page if you're just starting out with an offer or doing small volume, so Prosper is certainly handy. It's actually a really impressive tracking tool.

yea but its so difficult to install..maybe i was doing it wrong.

Prosper can't be in a sub-domain or sub-folder if I remember correctly, so it will need it's only domain. Nice cheap .info would work.

just to be clear, i currently user proser202, so not looking for recommendations. More looking for info on the current market and what people like/dislike about their current methods of tracking and what they are paying if they are not using something free...

I use my own in-house brew. As long as the merchant has sub-id tracking I am good.

my little php script creates the sub-id on the fly and stores it in the database along with all my variables.

When I want to look at my drilled-down conversions, I just merge the excel file with conversions and sub-id's into my table.

This is really the best way I know of. This way I get to track everything from LP to keyword, without giving any of that info to my Aff network or google.

I use xtreme conversions. Does the job. Main thing I like about it (not sure if prosper does this, have it installed but haven't used it yet) is that it tracks all visitors to your site so you get a true EPC of all visitors to your site, not just those who click through to your aff link.

Yeah you can figure that out yourself by looking at your cost data...but I just upload my sales and boom there's the EPC for every keyword and ad group.

Also like the fact that you can just feed it variables for a campaign name, ad group, bid keyword etc so it integrates nicely with SpeedPPC and you don't have to use a different folder if you want to run say Adwords and YSM.

You can just feed it domain.com/index.php?campaign=widget&adgroup=ysm, etc.

Biggest thing I don't like: Can't upload your cost data.

Why can't we just install it to a subfolder (domain.com/tracking)?

When I tried to install it on a domain I use for a lot of things, I got errors and I remember reading somewhere that it has to be at the root of the domain. So that basically means you can't do much with that domain.
