For the past year I have been working on this website in my spare time away from work and school. With the current economic times and the fact that I too much on my plate I think this would be the perfect time to let it go, but I might have high hopes as I am not a domainer or affiliate marketer primarily and dont have experience with selling websites.

The sites URL is:

I have hit the first page of google/msn/yahoo for many terms like "recession" "recession history" "recession definition" "us recession" ect.

I have had friends list the domain for sale on a few different forums in the past but they didn't get much activity, I am not sure if that is because they were listing it in the wrong places or if there just wasn't an interest.

Google Analytics Since February

The site is run on Drupal 6.4 with a custom theme I built on zen classic.

So my biggest question is should I try to sell the domain by itself or should I push the entire site, it seems like there are more channels for domain sales than for full websites and that would be the way to make the most money. The sites traffic has been growing daily and I think it will continue this trend in the future.

Also if it is allowed, can anyone recommend some sites to consider selling on?

sitepoint.com is probably the best place to list the site at

you just missed all the T.R.A.F.F.I.C auctions could have submitted the domain to those

check out domaining.com for other domain resources/marketplaces that I dont have time to list here

You are mistaken. Domains do not nearly sell as good as complete sites.

sitepoint is where to go with this.

Pointers:
- You will be asked to reveal traffic / revenue / profit stats. Even if just asked in private, have the numbers ready and prepared.

- Provide as many figures as you are comfortable revealing in the auction from the get go.

and lastly...

WTF are you doing selling this domain?

IMO, you should keep the domain ... the traffic is awesome.

Set up a short opt in page, and promote some "work at home" type program at $30 a pop. (cough clickbank cough)

You could bank 1-2k a month easily with that amount of traffic -- of course, you gotta write a good optin page and email campaign...

Sitepoint looks good I am looking into it now. Traffic ranges obviously but generally it sees a few hundred uniques a day and makes $200+ a month with the adsense on the front and the bottom of each page (not very great placing but I didn't want the site to look cheap)

I have high hopes for this domain and understand its enormous potential but I don't have the money to invest, and have too much invested in other projects to drop them. Working and go to school full time on top of my other web projects is really spreading me thin.

I agree with this. If the site is low maintenance, why sell it? Monetize the traffic as long as you can....THEN sell it.

Personally I would leave it brewing until you have time again, it is free money in the mean time and seriously you would be surprised at how that site could change even whilst you are not working on it. I had a download site once (*cough* warez) and I decided to quit the internet for a couple of months but I leave the site on its own unattended.

I was getting steady $400 checks from adsense and then one month I got a $700 check and realised my Google traffic had almost doubled (still not quite sure how, someone must have given me one hell of a free backlink). At this point I got back on it and started promoting ClickBank sites on it and then took in nearly $2000 the month after.

To be honest I have regretted selling most sites I have ever sold, it always seems like a good idea at the time but I always regret it...

He's in a difficult position, stretching himself too thin to properly monetize it. I can see it's an underdeveloped site that would benefit from input from a practiced hand, and the OP may not have the time and inclination to do this properly.

If I were in his position, I'd hang onto the domain for the time being, and enlist the services of a pro who will work on percentage and let him or her make the site into a real moneymaker. If it doesn't pan out - sell it.

This, I think, works both sides of the aisle. One n00b's opinion.

It's a great domain name, it has traffic, what if you just let sit for a few months and see how steady the traffic and ad revenue is. If it started to dip a bit then sell it then I'd hang on to it for sure.

I agree with some of the others - You'll regret selling this. If it's just a case of you beeing stretched, why not just hire some writers to keep it going for a while?
