What is your interaction like with your AM?

So I'm signed up with a couple well-known networks and I'm getting ready to launch my first campaign.

So far so good... EXCEPT that my affiliate managers are flaky and don't respond when I want them to! (fuck!!)

For example -- one, who has approved some offers for me, doesn't respond when I ask her basic questions. Something like "where do I put the tracking pixel?" Another I'm chatting with for the first time after joining, and he straight up just doesn't reply to my skype message (despite being online the entire day).

I get the feeling that they don't want to waste time on unproven "noobs" like me and also that I might be acting too courteous in a cutthroat industry.

Is anyone else having a similar experience?

I feel as if I need a benchmark for how a normal affiliate / AM relationship is supposed to be like.

You would be correct. Not to discourage you but if you need help with tracking pixels it's obvious you've got a long way to go before you get to the point of them even remembering what your name is. An affiliate manager is really an offer manager and sales person, it's their job to match your traffic with the offers that bring in the most revenue. Their job is limited to recruiting and approving new affiliates, telling affiliates which offers are performing with which traffic sources, negotiating better payment terms if you can bring in volume, and sitting between you and the advertiser in case there are any quality issues or you want something customized in order to fit your traffic (if you're bringing in volume), everything else is 100% on you.

Most likely, your affiliate manager is over worked since he or she has about 100 other affiliates to deal with. If you are not a top player, you won't get priority. Sure, the affiliate manager will get back to you eventually, but until you start making money it won't happen quickly. Making money and hitting goals is their top priority, not acting like a customer service rep or tech support. My advice to you is to remain courteous and keep following up. You'll eventually get a response with enough well written emails. Putting some $$$ on the board you get their attention as well. It doesn't need to be much, just show your affiliate manager that you are active. Acting like a prick will just piss your Affiliate Manager off.
