My first media buying experience. getting a horrible ctr of 0.18%. Sure the traffics dirt cheap and my first day's been profitable, but is this normal? What kind of click rate can i expect?

A bit about the site: It's a gaming website with contests, forums, articles, etc.

It's a relatively small website (~100k uniques daily) anyways...what kind of click rates do people usually get on sites like this? im not sure if i should work on changing my ad or just leave it as it is. thanks :food-smiley-010:

Without giving us the exact media buy site, the exact banner, the exact placement, no one is going to know. Since it's profitable, then that's a good start to split testing other ads to bump the CTR up.

Why not ask the site owner?

depends on what you're doing.

if it's profitable it's good ctr.
if you're losing $$ it's not good ctr.

Too many variables to give any educated answer on. It's up to you to figure out if there is room to optimize your CTR, since if you posted the site you are buying media on here, we would probably rape it apart.

Ask the site owner what the typical CTR for prior/current advertisers is. I found that the majority of the site owners were actually pretty honest with that. Work from there.

Also, if your ad is pretty relevant to the site you are pushing on, you'd have to have a pretty small and/or horrible placement to get a 0.18% either way.

If you're losin cash then its not a good CTR my friend, I would recommend shooting for more targeted traffic to improve it, while quantity's important, quality's king
