I see a lot of sales pages, and most of the language used reminds me of that of scams.

Why is it that most sales pages are portrayed as scams?

Is it because those people are just not being themselves?

Should we write the way we normally talk (business like), and try not to sound like a salesman?

You would be surprised as how computer illiterate some people are. I constantly watch family even friends surf the internet and click/fill out the stupidest shit.

There is no specific type of way you should talk, the guru's here are adamant about trial and error testing for a reason. I promise you they aren't just feeding you crap.

Good luck on your journey man. Get that A/B testing going - even when you think you are converting good it can almost always get better! Never stop improving.

Also, do you know of any websites where you can create sales pages(templates, editors,etc...), and what ever you write, you get suggestions on how to improve your sales writing?

Look at Clickbank. For their entire lifespan they've relied primarily on people paying to download free file sharing software, ebooks on how to get rich that tell you to sell ebooks on how to get rich, betting systems and lists of places to make shit money taking bullshit surveys.

The point is sales pages only exist to scam idiots. Putting that salesy copy on a legitimate product for nose breathers will turn off more people than it will turn on. It's 2014, just say what it is and people will buy it or they won't.

Like someone else said, your selling effort should be spent split testing things. In my experience the best option is always close to what my gut tells me, but it's almost never dead on.

well said, "should we write the way we normally talk (business like), and try not to sound like a salesman?" should be like a businessman not a salesman...:)

:nopenope: yup just like myself im stuck with a website and do not know where to go next

I know I'm late on this post but you're looking at this all wrong. When the right traffic comes, they want you to sell them a solution to their problem. They want you to solve their problems.

That "scammy" language has been tested over and over again through out marketing history. It's designed psychologically push someone who is desperate to lose weight to take action and buy your solution.
