What to do with old laptops?

I have an old Panasonic Toughbook (forgot the model but the processor is a Core 2 Duo) as well as an old Gateway Laptop that has a i5 processor. Both won't start and are just sitting in my closet. I'm moving soon so I either need to recycle them, sell them for whatever their worth on eBay, or do something with them. I'd hate to not maximize the value of them.

I also have this Lenovo ThinkPad with an AMD E-300 (its sort of like an Atom processor). It works and has a battery life of 5 hours but I've since upgraded to a better laptop. Also, the hinge is broken. I thought about using it to run scripts but the processor sucks and we all know Digital Ocean rocks. I'm thinking of selling it on ebay as well but maybe there's a cool project for it?

I remembered reading this Convert Your Old Laptop into a Digital Projector ages ago. That looks like a cool project but too bad projectors are cheap now (and the end result of the project is ugly as fuck). Another cool project like that would be great.

What he said. Donate them to a reputable charity in your area and you might help someone get back on the road to success. Or they'll sell it for crack. Win/win either way.

+1 for the charity thing, there's probably some form of nonprofit set up for this in your area. We have Free Geek | Ethical Computer Recycling in Vancouver, BC and they're awesome... great place for old electronics to find a new life.

Charity for shit that works... for shit that doesn't work, some large retailers provide an Electronics Recycling bin at the back of the store that you can drop all your electronics into.
