I recently purchased a domain for the keyword "cheap [product]". Let's say [product] stands for "fishing rods". My plan is to SEO it until I can get a good spot on google for the search term "cheap fishing rods". I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what would convert people better: A wordpress site with reviews on kayaks or a store (eg. OS Commerce or Magento). And if you think the store would convert better could you recommend what you think is the best CMS for that?

I'm curious about this too. I put a wordpress theme on a domain which links to Amazon. If the site gets good traffic then I might consider putting Magento on it.

Because the keyword is "Cheap Fishing Rods", the Cheap implies that people who search for it are in purchasing mode, and ready to buy. Because of this, I would recommend a store over WP. Vendio.com may provide a decent CMS for what you're doing.

If the keyword were "reviews" or something more general, a WP may be more effective. Best of luck.

I agree with soultrain, a store would be the best way to go. WP can be used as a store too, i've seen a ton of ecommerce plugins/themes out there.

However, e-commerce optimization is a lot different than LP optimization and can get hectic with shopping carts and all that shit.
