Domains would not cost that much. $10k tops for 1000 domains. If you are paying $15-20 per domain for a year, you're getting ripped off.
It's not, it's total spent per domain which includes (domain name, article, cost for building up the site, and promotion).
Do you even know if this works? Why don't you just try this with about 5 sites? Then use the profit to make 10 sites, then continue to scale.
Taking $30k because a bank offered it to you and spending it all on something you have never done before and have no clue if it will work is....retarded.
Hm, I would think so, I launched 170x 1 pager sites December last year and I do OK totally hands-off ($70/day average).
but, there are some risks,
1. The adsense accounts get booted.
2. Google change their algo.
For (1) I'm splitting the sites over 5 accounts and keeping them below the $100/day per account mark. They will be on separate hosts. not interlinked, different addresses, different names etc.
For (2). I'm not sure but as long as I have more than 100 quality in-contextual links I should be good. (I hope).
Still.. I don't know how viable this is. I know a few people that do this for a living/retirement plan, domaineers mainly that convert their business model from domaining to mini sites builder.
Example site is findmoney.net, this guy makes $300/day from adsense on one account.
