End of the rainbow
So my current ventures have me doing a lot of reading on the web. My kids have basically taken over my ipad, and half the time I can't even find it any more. I'm looking for something that I can just leave in my office and grab it and go plop down on my couch whenever I need to read something lengthy online. Basically just a cheap little tablet used only for web browsing. I just don't want anything too small. Any recommendations?

Kindle HD or HDX, Nexus 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab series are by far the best readers/browsing web tablets and can found for less than $200.

How cheap we talking? For $170 you can get the Nexus 7. Its 7" which is pretty good for reading unless you're reading novels.

Staying with the 7" there are a ton of Chinese tablets for under $100

< Thats actually an 8"

Or if you want to step it up to a 10" so you can read those steamy romance novels (fag) you're going to drop $170-700.

For what you're doing I'd bet one of the cheap chinese tablets would work well for you. The thing to look out for is whether the touch screen is capacitive or resistive touch. A lot of the REALLY cheap $39 iChina's use resistive touch which frankly sucks nuts. Remember using a stylus on a Palm to get it to register taps? Thats resistive. If the product description doesn't say capacitive, and it's an iChina tablet then you can bet it's resistive.

it's small enough

Some of you might not know that erect has the biggest hands out of all the mods.

Here's a picture of me giving him a high-five.

I'm on the left.

If it is truly just for web browsing - I really enjoy my Microsoft Surface tablet, first generation. They are getting really cheap because Microsoft is abandoning the Windows RT mobile OS and opting for regular Windows 8 on their surface tablets. If you don't care about apps and games, which I don't since I have a pretty solid smart phone already, it is really nice. Plus a USB and keyboard input.

I bought a barely used Prestigio one for $70 or so. Works perfectly fine for reading books and browsing the web. Battery life is quite good, too.

I'd do a kindle fire over a nook personally.

I have kindle fire 1 and 2, galaxy tab 7 and the 8" one for development/testing and they're all pretty similar. They run 3d games so web browsing shouldn't be a problem, even watching movies is fine on the kindle fire 1...
