i see these posts in the marketplace where people are buying massive amounts of email accounts.

what's the reason for this? spamming?

-just curious
 


Or for creating accounts at various places.. like youtube or myspace.

No dude, I don't mean banning you on here, calm down.

I am saying if any of those programs catch on to the mass accounts, they will ban your ass.
 
stussy5555: yeah makes sense.. and i'm not mad or anything lol... one thing i can't stand about talking online is the absence of inflection.
 
Pretty much any kind of account you sign up for online requires an email address; most these days will require email confirmation to activate the account.

Some email accounts, like gmail, also offer a layer of protection against tracing because they do not send your IP along with the headers.
 
I have around 5 gmail accounts because I needed more than one to register with Adwords more than once for example but I don't see why people need 10,000 email accounts.

Are they buying addresses (just the id, but no password) or Are they buying email accounts (both the id and the password)?

It is because in the title you used the term "Email Addresses" but in the body of the post you used "Email Accounts".

So, if you can clarify if they are buying the "email addresses" (lists) or "email accounts", you will get better answers.

If they are buying "email lists", obviously it is to promote their shitty offers (alleged spamming) and if they are buying "email accounts", it is to spam High-Traffic sites with their pathetic URLs in their videos, ads, profiles etc.

Also your clarification would divide the answers into two main categories :p.

They just want to create multiple ac on different networking sites for marketing purpose and each ac needs to have an email address for confirmation of ac so they do buy massive amounts thaz it
