Lets say you want to kick start your site. For instance if you launched site like airbnb.com and wanted to get 10.000 people to put their homes up for rent on your site. And you had 20.000$. I am thinking best way would be launching affiliate program in house and pay 2$ per lead or going through CPA networks. Alternative way - buy various kind of advertising on various travel related sites. What would you do?

I would follow whatever the next random guy on the internet posts.

I would definitively not try to form a strategy before asking for advice on my business plan.

No need for sarcazm as I am not going to follow what somebody will say. I will merely take any real advice into consideration. Sometimes you can not think of everything and another person might notice something you missed.
I feel pitty for you if you are that stubborn type who does not want to hear any other professional opinion before formulating your stategy.

Carry on.

Offer them $2 to post their homes there.(Not through aff network, but directly) Simple.

And then a link bait strategy.

Site which PAYS you to post ads. ( Only accept legit ads, be prepared for spam shit strom) . It goes viral. And you make monies. I've done something like this for a client before.

One thing - if I offered that I would still need traffic in order to reach 10.000 people who are willing to post them up. If I went affiliate route than affiliates would take care of traffic for me.

We are witnessing the workings of a brilliant mind here folks, pay attention, we have a new steve jobs here!

Do you just want your site to look "busy"? Scrape other websites that offer the same content and post them up. That's what I did for a job board I had a while back

Why does he say that was blackhat? Greyhat at the very least, but actually it is whitehat with one dishonest twist - instead of sending emails saying "hi, I own airbnb.com, you are welcome to post your home there" they were pretending to be someone else. Thats it. I do not see any blackhat here.

Lets say you have real estate classifieds site and you go emailing people who sells their homes inviting them to post on your site as well. Normal practice, no blackhat or anything shady.
