What's the point of sites like Shopify?

I am wondering why exactly I would consider putting my product onto Shopify or something similar? I only have one product. I see I would get hosting. I would be able to create a storefront. Other than that, what's the point? Is that really worth the $100 a month + 1% sales fee? Or am I missing something key here, that would be a major pain in the ass if I just hired a designer to create a site and install a shopping cart?

I think the point is mostly that you don't have to hire a designer and install a shopping cart.

Who the fuck is telling you to put it on shopify around here?

Have you been reading fucking warrior forum or dp or something then asking us retarded questions about their drivel.

are you saying that would be a bad strategy?

i actually read about it on tim ferriss's (4HWW writer) blog. he can be fos sometimes, but i enjoy reading his stuff.:

i'm just wondering if i'm missing anything. if they're just providing 1) hosting 2) an easy way to design a site and 3) and easy way to have integrate a shopping cart, that stuff would have to be a really big pain in the ass to make it worth what they're charging. is it essentially for lazy people?

I don't see how they would have to be lazy to use something like shopify. There are so many people who want to sell their shit online but have no idea how to get started. Shopify provides that service. If you only have one product and know your shit, or you are amazon.com, then obviously you'd go another way.
