an advertiser contacted me to buy leads from one of my websites

I'm doing small numbers, 20 - 40 of ~$10 leads per month.

I'm currently sending my visitors to a network, they've been good so far, they pay on time every month and the conversion rate is ok.

I think I'll send them an email and try to make some deal in case they want the advertiser.

Setting up my own lead management system and going through the hassle of selling leads directly to them can't be justified with so few leads.

what would you do?

Does the advertiser have their own tracking? Hasoffers could possibly be useful in this case.

if you've never sold leads before get ready for every headache under the sun.

make SURE you get money UP FRONT from them prior to getting "all the leads were bad we're not paying" line of bullshit from someone who has no idea what they're doing with leads in the first place.

just fair warning, make sure the extra effort is worthwhile

that's exactly why I don't want to go direct

what about making a deal with the network? What kind of deal could I try?

Whether or not the network picks up the campaign will have a lot to do with how many affiliates they feel will eventually run the campaign. That's because it does cost the network money (in the form of time) to get a campaign going and the network has to feel they can recover that money.

If you really want to avoid going direct, then you'll just need to open up a discussion with a network you currently trust.

the network is already running this kind of offer with multiple campaigns, so I know they'd be interested and I suppose they could sell those same leads to this new advertiser

I think I'll send them an email today

This couldn't be more spot on. It sounds like the best bet for you is to not go direct and stick to the network. Lead buyers always come back saying the quality sucks because they want a lower rate, but the real litmus test is if they come back and buy again.

Yep. the red flag always needs to be at half mast when they don't have anything stating an affiliate program on their site. It doesn't hurt to ask the network you're working with if they see any potential in the offer for network distribution.
