So a friend of the family is interested in what I do and wants to know more ( my mom talked to her mom or something). I really don't have a problem talking a bit about it. But what would I say? I mean affiliate marketing is a whole other world that many people don't even know exist. I wouldn't even know where to start. I really don't want to spend too much time on this. I would prefer to just point her in a direction and say... go here and read and if you're still interested then come talk to me. Where should I send her and don't say wf, a) not sure she could handle the environment here and b) this isn't the place you want someone who knows NOTHING about AM ( Not that that has stopped anyone before) Ironically, I feel like I should point her to an ebook. I mean with all the shit we talk about ebooks at least they are really simplistic and dumbed down enough for the casual reader... any advice?

This is when those clickbank links come in handy. Buying an ebook would atleast give your friend a basis of how AM works. Also a good lesson to them never to buy another ebook.

Edit: Get a refund after.

Turbolap, I would also be very careful in general. When describing this to people their eyes tend to glaze over and later they either think you somehow screwed them over because you didn't share some secret that caused them to *not* make money or they end up wanting to partner which ultimately ends up with you doing the work while they expect money.

And worse, if they do make a little money, they suddenly want *all* your specifics and feel slighted when you don't give them your keyword lists, domains and niches.

First thing I would do is gauge why they are interested. If they think you sit around in your pajamas all day and watch their bank account grow, let em know the truth.

I'd ask them if they're ready to work their asses off for the next year or more to make zero or lose money first.

Then I'd give them some links to some places to check out. Then if they check those out and actually try to do something, ie not just read but actually lose or maybe even make money I'd talk to them more.

I'd just let them know how much money you've lost testing new campaigns before finding one that works - That usually works for me.

send them to amway.com and tell them they will be millionaires if they just introduce three friends, and they tell three friends, and so on, an so forth .... the problem will just work itself out

point her to obscure never ending documentation, go on vacation, slap your mother and end this bangin her

Tell them web development and marketing. That's what I do and leave it at that. Most have left me alone after that.

lol.

I've been helping my sister, mom, and a friend by adding them as authorized users on my credit cards and giving them some of my successful facebook ads to manage, duplicate, change, test, etc on their fb accounts. We split the profit 50% and use my affiliate accounts. Not saying this is really great advice, but facebook is a pain because of the spending limits.

I hear Shoemonkey is coming out with an eBook.

Tell her to search Google for thing like 'affiliate marketing and ppc' etc.
