Wife & kids are visiting the grandparents on the last couple days before the next school year so I'm noodling around w/ the guitar and staying up much later than usual.
Was flipping through some newer songs and some old standbys and it struck me there were a few songs and artists I tend to sing when I'm in the car, shower, whatever... more than others.
Everyone has the bands they've listened to and liked more than others, but which are the ones you sing when you're around others or by yourself?
For example, I've listened to a ton of different artists and had some favorite bands over the years (e.g guns n' roses, grateful dead, sublime, guster, delirious?, brandon heath, etc.), but realized my singing style is almost entirely rob thomas from matchbox 20 with a little pigpen from grateful dead. Strange, b/c while I liked a couple mb20 songs back in the 90s, I don't think I ever owned an album. Maybe it just matched my voice.
So, what were the bands that not necessarily influenced you as a person or carried the most weight in your playlist, but rather influenced how you sing, and perhaps even those core couple songs you sing by yourself or perhaps even others like to hear you sing?
