A friend's douchgebag room mate keeps trying to get me into ACN (pyramid scam) and just sent me this on aim as "motivation" to join. I couldn't stop laughing.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzZvZeHIxFs"]YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]

The only thing that would make it better would be the been had 100's guy saying "look at my fuckin warer fall mayne", "oh shit check out dem fiyawerks, shapow!"

MLMs aren't my thing, I wouldn't get involved in one.

With that said, after watching the "investigation", it doesn't look like the company is actually doing anything wrong.

Not everyone is going to make big money, and many won't even make anything at all . . . that's supposed to be a surprise???

That's how it works in the real world if you go out and start your own business. You sink or swim on your own efforts. That appears to be the case here. It's basically a sales position, so those who are good sales people will succeed and the others won't.

My guess would be that the complaints are from people who thought they were going to become rich overnight, without putting in any real work.

If there were more scantily clad women kissing each other in the hot tub, I'd be motivated to join.

Also, I think it's ironic that the one of the lines in the Annie song is, "Instead of treated, we get tricked! ", because people who buy in do get tricked.

But, I still, the video needs more girls kissing.

ACN's product is the most stupid product i've ever seen, you can do better with any desktop, and next year everyone will be able the video chat with their iphone, android etc..
i just don't understand how they can sell it? of couse with pyramid scams, the product is not important but selling a video chat machine :) i just don't get it

I always equate MLM with "friend remover".

I'm sure everyone has had that experience - you have dude you know and hang out with from time to time - then one day he wants to meet with you about a "Business Opportunity" - next thing you know it's Amway or some shit.

Then you never call him again.

Hahahahaha, ditto.

Guy from work wouldn't even tell me anything except I could listen to a successful business man for a free seminar... next thing I know I'm in a room with 30 people, half of them got 'recruited' at tim hortons across the road, ski-doo jackets smelling like gas...all of them listening purposefully, coffee cup still in hand, intrigued by the pro bullshitter tell us how rich we'd be for the price of 2 pizza's a month..

I did learn one thing though, an idiot is to money as matter is to antimatter.

Met two in my life :( one went into serious debt, the other disappeared...

It is a replacement for church. The meetings worship money and the guy in the meeting that has made the most sales lately.

Normally they have such high overheads that they have to sell vitamins or fancy soap because there isn't enough profit in most items to support the payout.

FWIW, I was involved with ACN a few years ago. I was at Spencer Hunn's when they filmed that video.

ACN is far from a scam, it's MLM. I refuse to be involved with MLM anymore (other than doing lead gen for people involved in them (hint hint))
but you can make money in any MLM if you treat it like a business and not something you "do."

If you're good at the hustle, you'll probably be able to make some ok cash.

The thing is, if you actually want to make money selling that shit there are several real affiliate and agent programs that have better offers, are free to get into, and payout better commissions. There is no need to recruit people and scam people out of crazy membership fees.

I had a friend who joined that shit and tried to get me to join. But I was already selling that shit strictly online and getting paid without any lame meetings and inferior products that don't even have 20th century sales options.

ONLY499...probably his credit score if I had to guess. Nothing but douchebaggery.

How about this - if you don't want to do it, just say "no" and let your friend do his thing.

You've never had to deal with an MLM zombie have you? They're damn near rapists in their recruiting approach, you tell them no and they assume you mean yes. Say no thanks it's not for me and they show up on Saturday morning with the guy who reeled them into the MLM to try and give you a presentation. Throw a party and they invite themselves and the 10 other suckers in their "business mastermind group" to try and recruit people there. You forcibly throw them out of your house and they send you stupid shit like this.

I say fuck em. :2drinkspit:

I'm quite familiar with MLM. If I'm not interested, I say, "no thanks," and that's it. If you have "friends" that are hounding you, maybe they aren't real friends.

Read my original post, a friend's roommate. Not my friend ;)
