It seems like everytime I start a new campaign I rock it for like a week then suddenly im at break even point or loosing a little money. I've been tracking keywords and they still get as many impressions/clicks and average the same position. I cant seem to find any technical reason for my conversion rate to just drop. anyone else experience this or have any ideas?

Yeah, I've made a similiar post happens to me as well (on YSM), although I think it's always been less than week, more like a day or 2.

It probably has to do with your CTR% Where is it at? If you have a low CTR your ad will be displayed less and lower than other people. When you first launch a campaign they don't know what your CTR is so you get the same placement as everybody else, once they start to see your CTR drop it starts to effect your ad placement and then you see an effect in sales.

That's what I think, the same thing happens to me all the time and it's the only solution I can think of.

Yeah my problem is on YSM also. The thing is I've looked at CTR, ad position, clicks recieved, and everything is relatively the same as when my campaign starts. I cant find any difference except my conversion rate just drops. frustrating... :(

Are you sure your add position is still the same? There is a big difference on conversions, depending on your position.

The thing is I've looked at CTR,

It takes time for your CTR to be tested and stabilized, when you first start your campaign it's different than the next day. Even if the numbers you see are the same, all the testing from search engines happens very quickly.

Use search, and do some research you'll see the same responses with what I'm trying to explain.

Yeah I have a report I did for the last 2 weeks (since I started a recent campaign) im tracking my ad positions down to the keyword level and from day 1-14 they are the same within 1-2 positions.

I think I get what your saying but im looking at data over the last 2 weeks, day by day. my CTR has actually trended up over those days. the main thing is my ad position is the same, and those keywords are getting as many (or more) clicks.

Yeh same happens to me. The first week I make heaps of leads and sales on adwords within 2nd week everything goes down hill.

Same here with the dropoffs. I've always figured when your ad shows it's "newness" gets the attention and then later on many of the clicks are from the same people as before assuming it may be offering something different, especially since it may be in a different position.

In addition, you'll notice that other ads start to mimic each other as well as yours which homogenizes the lot. Then the clickers will tend to check them all before doing any action. I've found that after the drop off, just pause your campaign for a week and restart it again. The rush takes place again and then drops again. Just do that over & over.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to the drop off. The first of which is Google and the way they score things. Depending on how your CTR compares with the rest of the ads on that page Google will help or hurt your campaign. Your budget can have an impact as well.

If your budget is small your ad may not show up at the best time of day. I test each campaign to find out when I get my best conversion. As a general rule my ads only run 10-12 hours per day.

Another factor is that Google doesnt always reveiw your campaigns when you intially set them up. I've had ads disapproved 2 weeks after starting them. You may be getting penalized down the road and not even know it.

The best advice I can give is to test test test.

Remember this is a game...sometimes you just have to play harder than the other guys

This makes the most sense based on the data Ive analyzed. I just looked at some of my best performing keywords/ads and I see ads there that weren't when I started. I guess if I have to play that game its cool I just don't get how people say they have campaigns that run great & they never have to touch them. Guess I should take that with a grain of salt...

I've campaigns that have been running for months that I've never touched, other then the initial week or 2 of tweaking. But then I'm only arbing....

This happens a lot and I have tested it A LOT. I have come down to the AD networks are giving away a freebie or two....to get you to push the offer even harder.

Everyone else's points are factors too...but it makes sense for the AD networks to do this in order to get more people pushing more traffic.

I hear ya..but this isnt just a few leads when I first launch. Im talking like 20+ leads a day for probably 6-7 days then it just dies.

check your referrers make sure you traffic is coming from the same place. Maybe they're pawning you off some shitty partner. Track your referrers and see where your traffic is coming from.
