i did a test on a number of offers where I pull the exact same offers from say 3 to 4 different affiliate networks, i provide the same placement for each with same type and ammount of traffic. BUT in the end they will all convert different. It doesnt matter if i run them all at the same time or one after another. I have done this with dating as well as finance and education offers. Even if the offers/landing pages are identical some will convert better than others. Anyone experiance this before? Is it because some networks have faster servers and others are slower thus effecting the drop off rate?

I hate to say fraud, but it certainly is a possibility.

Many affiliate networks filter a certain percentage of sales for whatever reason. Almost without fail, going from an affiliate network to a white label brings a 20-25% boost in conversion. Would love to say it is our great design skills when we host the form, but that is not it...

Depending on the offer, they may also filter based upon a database of who has signed up before.

One other explanation - and the one the networks will probably use - is that you might not have set-up the links properly or that the javascript tracking pixel failed to fire or your users were already cookied by other affiliates. This one has always felt empty to me....

Also a last possibility is that your sample size was not large enough and that your error bars overlapped the true result but looked very different when just stated as a conversion rate.

sample size was good, sample size was same for every test. like i said, it did not matter if i run offers at the same time or one after another.

i have also tried increasing the sample size for the poorly converting offers, even tried optimizing, that did not matter. some still converted better than others, while being the same offer only from different networks.

Prolifik, they all have the same landing page?

On the controversy, it is known that a lot of adult programs shave (even no one admits it).

Can mainstream affiliate networks shave the same way? I'm not saying they do....just want to know if someone knows more facts. Would it be possible to shave for a mainstream program?

Diorex gave a pretty good summery of what could be happening.

Shaving/Scrubbing/Skimming/Filtering/"optimizing for traffic quality", pixel tracking failures, also adware re-writing links is very possible too. I suspect affiliate advertisers may also be responsible too. Watch to see if the conversion boost lasts for a while, or drops off within a day or two.

i understand scrubbing with dating and/or ringtones. but i've done this with offers where a user must input a credit card number and once the sale is done there is nothing to scrub. yet i'd take 3 of the same offers and they all will perform differently. identical landing pages, different networks.

i also undertand that networks that do scrub/shave would normally have these same offers with a slightly higher CPA.......in my test i had found out that CPA of the offer was not a factor (there was no pattern) in how well the offer performed.
