So I have been doing some research in regards to the whole google slaps and google hating us affiliate marketers.

Some of you guys might be knowing that I am about to launch an investigative affiliate marketing site which should change a lot of things in the AM world.

Anyways I got few of my writers to make few phone calls and do some inside digging about the whole situations.

So they called up Big G and few other agency who work closely with Big G and got few things out from them.

1) Google is trying to give its user the best user experience and a lot of Affiliate page is not providing them any value.

2) There is a lot of BS content on most of the sites and LP which made up just to make money by the affiliates.

3) Though google likes the money they are and were making but they know it won't go forever if they continue letting some of the stupid ads and products being sold through PPC. A lot of users are being scammed and blaming Big G for the rebills. In fact a Big G rep said that they are getting hundreds of calls per day from consumers blaming them for the scams.

4) Not everyone can become a successful business person in the world as there will be no one left to work for others and do the "dirty jobs". It is very simple only 1% of businesses do survive over a 5 year period and the same rule applies to the AM business.

5) A lot of times same products are marketed with different url or using review page. Big G rep believes that they needed to kick out a lot of them as Bing has been banning a lot of its users who are not following the terms and conditions and they have to do the same to keep up (again user experience.... and if users don't get it from Big G they will go to Bing or Yahoo).

6) Another media agency rep stated that Big G wants to see newer products which are actually competition against each other. They want to see "real businesses" and small business coming into the game which offers diversity and more choices not more affiliates. He also stated that the PPC prices are going higher everyday for a lot main stream keywords and soon it can not go any higher as there won't be great returns for businesses involved. (affiliates are being blamed for higher bids due to new players coming on board everyday and bidding like crazy).

7) They are also looking at "branding" and offers which are of real value.

In fact one of the industry specialist believes that if you want to last long , want to make money for longer periods and be known for what you do. Get a proper product out there and build your brand.

A recent survey showed that internet marketers are quickly getting badged as scammers and spammers. Do we really want to be known as that? In fact we were ranked lower in trustworthiness when compared to telemarketers.

I believe we can change all this and more if we change our game a bit.

1) Google is trying to give its user the best user experience
The whole deal botches right here.
That is a load of crap. Capitalism is "The effort to maximize profits", pure and simple. User experience, ecological awareness, donations and all that shit are just lies for their public image.

You're looking at it wrong. G is most definitely trying to give it's users the best experience possible for entirely capitalistic reasons. If the users start lopping google in with the shady scammers then they will leave and go else where. The best search engine with the most (happy) users wins. How much more capitalistic can you get than that?

Where on Earth did you get this figure from?

this is bullshit. We are small businesses. Legitimate small businesses. Don't believe googles lies. All they want is our profit margins to be their profit margins.

Google doesn't just hate affiliates that promote auto-ship products, they hate every affiliate, even ebay affiliates and CJ affiliates selling brand name products. They slap them all.

The whole "adds value" thing is bullshit too. Advertisements "add value" by creating revenue for the parties involved, not by giving things away to consumers.

Since when have TV commericals ever been required to add more value than money for the networks.

The value to the consumer is in being able to watch content paid for by ads.

There is nothing wrong with Ad -> sales page -> order form business model. No more "value" required.

The idea that more content = more value being the only way to increase value is BS. Isn't helping people to find what they are looking for quickly and easily of value?

That's always bothered me. I think there's plenty of value in "Oh, this is what you want? It's right over there." And there's nothing wrong with getting a spiff for the trouble.

Legitimate small businesses? Sure, there are lots of affiliates that play by the rules and that market good products at fair prices, but for each one of these there are guys slinging Obama's Grants, Google Money Tree, and other products that are borderline scams. They pre-sell people with fake testimonials and made-up statistics.

From Google's POV, it is easier (and probably more in line with the law) to go after ALL affiliates instead of making distinctions between good and bad. That means lots of decent offers are getting slapped around too.

This isn't the wild west anymore and Google is, often, trying to hold marketers to the same standards they're held to in the rest of our society. So, while, I agree with you in part, you need to realize that there some of Google's gripes are legitimate.

This is one of the things that pisses Google off. Google thinks its their job to direct the user to "It's right over there". Indeed, Google is the search engine and if your campaign infringes upon Google's "mission" then you are going to get butt penetration by the G. I think there is a difference how G treats campaigns search vs content but I don't know exactly how.

The problems come when G slaps one campaign and a similar campaign stays up. G has also been inconsistent in its application of the TOS .For instance, G supposedly hates similar landers, Well I just searched an extremely competitive key phrase and 2 ads came up with similar landers AND the same advertiser. Its a puzzle of sorts

Simple really.

G wants to be the #1 affiliate, no competition.

Cut out the middleman and collect 100% of the referral fees. Monopolistic imperialism disguised as 'we want to create a better user experience'.

The evil bastards have a well designed plan.

muhaaahaaaaahhaa muuhhaaaahaaahaaa

Yeah I can't figure this one out either. Its like its completely random. One guy survives the next guy with the same site gets blown away. I guess its all about luck.

From what I have been told there are "human checkers" who go through the results for things they search. If you fall prey for these human checkers and if you are an affiliate review page etc they will flag that LP and keyword. So when they mass slap, you get done. The ones who did remain are because they haven't been flagged by the checkers as they didn't see it etc or some affiliates change their domain as soon as they get slapped.

(btw there isn't 100 to 1000 checkers, infact there are close to 100,000 checkers all over the world for natural search and sponsored. - but don't quote me for this as I haven't checked the background of the source who told me this yet and he could be wrong).

Not one piece of the information above is new to me. I have heard everything listed above on more than one occassion. The bottom line is we ARE marketing someone elses product, so what the hell are you supposed to do. I beg to differ with Google about them saying we need to add to the user experience, the thousands of customers who bought legitimate products from me prior to them saying they don't want my money got something of value. Google can fuck off!

Yeah, but maybe to maximize their profits they need to give users the best experience? Considering without users searching they wouldn't really have much of a business.

Thats kind of how i see it too. They cant compete with the big aff. networks now, so they are just going to make it impossible for them to use google.

But their own cpa network will have offers that are compliant, and will have a much easier time getting through.

The Affiliate Marketing industry has four core players at its heart: the Merchant, the Network, the Publisher and the Consumer. The market has grown sufficiently in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including Affiliate Management Agencies

I think they need to outline the rules a little better - there should be an affiliate G guide. Most small business owners dont have time to play with ads, and will endup hiring people like us to get the traffic anyways. I cant talk shit about G, its a been pretty good to me for a long time.

bingo. we're too good and too fast. jenny craig et al are pissed they can't grab the top spots anymore.
