He means make something along the lines of Namepros (I'm just giving this as an example, not as promotion!), where people can register domains and trade stuff for that forum's own currency. People can earn it by posting or clicking on links...

I wouldn't like to see this happen: it would totally bring down post quality and also the marketplace would be filled with cheap turnkeys or unlicensed scripts sold for peanuts.

I'm against it, period.

Not even sure how that would work..
Giving people incentives to make posts/sticking to this forum is great idea but I don't think that is Jon's philosophy on how he wants to take this forum to the next level. This forum is very unique, unlike rest of them out there. Differentiation makes this forum popular especially with Jon's attitude and perspective on business (obviously his approach works well for him). People are following because they are tired of seeing same stuff from other forums which results in mediocre or no result at it. I like this forum and Jon's approach. Not kissing his ass at all, its different, so I visit often.

I guess it's up the Jon on what he wants to do but I strongly agree that implementing this will result in what you stated. This goes for dnforum, namepros, and many other webmaster forums offering points, rewards system.
I believe we are all here because we can afford $6 domain names (quote from Jon's blog) if you can't afford to experiment etc.. no need to be here, right? We are all here to make more than what we are currently making.
These minor features can always be added later on but I'm just waiting for the premium section to get started so I can learn something new. Otherwise, I'm wasting my time here and will go back to webmasterworld.

okay enough with this long ass replies from me.. I usually sit back and read.. :playboy_sml:
