Maybe they pay google for adwords ? I think thats how you get those links, but not sure, i google for google.com it shows only 1 link wonder why :love-smiley-085:

WF has been a "trusted authority site" for a while now you dope. John (I_Like_Cock) proved it when he made WF rank for the kw "buy viagra fedex" and had us ranking at position #3 on Google and positions #1 on MSN and Yahoo... Only reason I found out was because we got a ton of emails from people asking where on the site they can buy the viagra.. thanks for that John, much appreciated.. you dick!

OK roger, this site is an authority site, but just because you see the them listings with a few links under it that also point to the same site, doesn't mean it's an authority site. I don't know where people have got this idea from, but I have now seen something like this mentioned in 3 different forums. Them links have nothing to do with being an authority site. You could set up a site and within a few weeks you could also have them. It's only there so that it helps the visitors of google.

While this is mostly true, if you see that for the number one site for a broad keyword, it's a very good indication that G believes your site to be an authority. Also, it can depend on what datacenter you are looking at. With over 700 dc's you're site may be considered and authority site on 300 of them for xyz keyword, but not the others. Different dc's can run different algos, especially when they are working on an algo update. They'll launch it on one dc, and slowly roll it out to others.

They used to be a month or two ago, but frankly, since we stopped caring about it, less idiots joined up, so I kinda like not being at the top anymore. The serious ones seem to search deeper.

annyways, let me take a moment to be a negative nancy and just say that if wickedfire is going to become an 'authority site', i just hope it doesnt get watered down with noobs and the core membership of competent and hardworking people can somehow stay together in a protected area of the forum.
 
Is this authority new?

I think I looked at g00gles listing a month ago or so for WF and it showed a site they did not seem to like.

It looked like a manual spank with only like 4 pages showing and not one of them was the index.html page.

Was this correct or was I looking during a datacenter sync ?

My personal theory is that they start showing up for sites who have a very high number of external inbound links directly to those sections. Giving them a lot of external trust of their own.

IGN (.com) is a really good example of this. Do linkdomains for the various subdomains and you'll notice some of them have more backlinks than the main site.
