So yesterday I ordered my windows 8 upgrade for $15 using promotion codes and finally got everything installed today.

So far it's definitely different, If anyone else is using Windows 8 please share what you've found pretty cool or useful.

Pros:
-Nice interface
-All my programs are still compatible
-Doesn't seem to have as much "security" issues
-I like the minimized windows option on the top left of the screen
-Smooth transitions

Cons:
-Hard to get used too
-NO start menu!
-A lot of different apps/widgets that require logins
-All the apps available you have to put in your own photos etc, it doesn't automaticly retrieve them.
-Hard to search for things or find programs without using the search bar
-You have to go all the way to the top corner of the screen to pull down options.

Again I'm just now looking through everything so there are my views.

If anyone has any questions or anything about it let me know. I was kind of weary about buying it myself but I think I will definitely get used to it fast and like it!

That big ass ball trippin colorful screen with dem tiles that you see, is the new start screen.

Am I the only one here that liked Windows Vista? Going to upgrade Windows 8 on my next laptop for sure. Keep up with the times people.

Still using XP and holding out as long as I can!

I'm still using win 95

Somehow, I feel this will be a huge failure (still profitable for them, but one of those abuses of monopoly that help erode the monopoly's power base). Windows 9 (or whatever) coming soon.

98 se was the business back in the day

now using Windows 7 ultimate - fast, smooth, and overall a great experience

haven't even thought about upgrading to windows 8 yet but might soon since it's only $40

Still using arch linux for several months now and don't ever see myself going back to Windows unless I decide to play games again which I shouldn't be doing anyway. Running YNAB4 in Virtualbox WinXP.

-Hard to search for things or find programs without using the search bar

From the desktop you hit the Windows Key, then start typing the name of the program that you are trying to find and it pops up instantly, you can then run it by hitting enter. It would be hard to make finding your programs any faster or easier than that.

The programs that you use most often should have shortcuts on the start screen and/or desktop.

Windows 8 - good for tablets, phones, random mediocre facebook, messenger user.
Windows 7 - good for everyone else.

Windows 8 really isn't that much different than Windows 7 on a laptop or desktop pc. The start menu just changed to a full screen which is better than the old start menu in my opinion.

Tell me really - You do get paid by Microsoft. No?

You're like the official Windows 8 spokesperson on WickedFire.

LoL. No. I have just been using Windows 8 for a couple months and really like it.

Many people that complain about Windows 8 started complaining the moment they saw a screenshot of the new start screen or heard about the missing start button and have never even tried it.
