My friend create his own WordPress theme and is trying to sell a pro copy.

He's setup an affiliate service offering 30% on sales, but isn't sure how to get people to actually sign up. Affiliates | CyberChimps.com

Anyone have any tips or suggestions on where to go for WordPress theme affiliate marketing? Or perhaps someone here has a WordPress related site and would be interested in signing up?

Best bet is get in shareasale, clickbank or another network - private programs are tough unless you can build trust w/ your affiliates and cut some jv deals. Going through a network like SAS gives affiliates a bit more confidence they'll get paid & that you're serious about taking care of the folks on their list.

Sounds reasonable.

What are some of the more trusted affiliate networks? Perhaps someone know of a good one that has a WordPress plugin?

A second vote for Themeforest. They take something like 25-50% depending on total sales volume, but they have a massive amount of buyers. Go check it out and sort the themes by date, and you can see some of the better ones have 100+ sales just in the first month.

I talked to him about ThemeForrest, he's applying but he still wants an affiliate network on the side. Apparently you only get 25% of profit for non-exlcusive, and 50% for exclusive. ThemeForrest also sets the price for the theme, and you have no input.

Where as an affiliate network would payout 30% for every sale, and its priced however he wants, can rollout subscriptions in the future, developer versions, etc. You lose that control if you use ThemeForrest, and have to follow all of their rules.

My favorite theme is Catalyst, and they're on ShareASale.

Not sure how feasible it is for your friend's case, just
sharing what I know.

If it's about easy usage, I'd definitely recommend Plimus, loads of features (increase comission for certain affiliates, add coupons, etc.) and very easy even if you are new to it. For the maximum exposure and most easy recruitment of affiliates, clickbank is the way to go. Shareasale is great, loads of affiliates, too, but a little harder to setup and with more requirements than clickbank.

Am I the only person here that can't stand dealing with clickbank?

Well, they have loads of dubious internet marketing "products" aka ebooks, but the number of affiliates you are reaching is huge. They aren't my personal preference, but I know from people selling themes there that it works very well.
