WP All Import is a new, advanced WordPress plugin that makes it possible to create posts from content in an XML file.

step1choosefile.png

1st, choose an XML file. You can specify an individual file, or you can specify a folder on a web/FTP server containing multiple XML files. WP All Import allows you to configure scheduled imports – whenever the content provider updates or provides a new XML file on the web/FTP server, WP All Import will import it – adding, removing, and updating posts as necessary.

2nd, specify what XML elements will be used to create posts. In the screenshot below, 12 posts will be created – one for each <book>.

3rd, specify a “template”. Choose which data in the XML file will appear in your posts, and where it will appear. This works just like the WordPress post content editor. Just drag and drop the element names or attributes (on the right) into the post content box to automatically create the corresponding template tag. Advanced users can also type out the template syntax directly. The template syntax is XPath and supports all XPath constructs.

Click the Preview button to get a live preview of a post while you work.

Once you have created your post template, you can specify the options for your created posts. Every text box on this page can have it’s value assigned from data in the XML file – just drag and drop the element names or attributes into the text box. Notice the “-1 year” and “+1 year” entries for the post dates. This will create posts with random dates spanning from one year ago to one year into the future. The posts with future dates won’t appear until their date has pased – i.e. a post with a future data of December 21st, 2012 won’t appear on your site until December 21st, 2012.

After you have specified the options for the created posts, WP All Import will generate the posts.

WP All Import allows you to manage all of your previous import jobs. You can specify a new, updated XML and “overwrite” your existing import with new data. Posts that haven’t changed will be left alone. WP All Import can even delete “expired” posts (if their data is no longer in the new XML file), or add new posts to a previous import job.

Deleting an import gives you the option to delete all posts associated it.

You can also setup scheduled imports. Some content providers will update a file with new data every so often. WP All Import can automatically re-import this file, keeping your posts updated with the latest data and creating new posts as applicable.

Hi there! I came accross to this thread because it'a a long time i'm searching for an easy way to import xml data into WordPress. I want to use affiliate xml feeds for creating posts but since today, i never managed to import them correctly. I'm really interested for a review copy. If this plugin is finally what i was looking for, i will also post here, with pleasure, screenshots from what i will be able to do with your plugin. I'm a new member here, but i would like to test this plugin because as i can see from your screenshots, it seems that it's what many WordPress users around world looking for. Consider that i am an average WordPress user, i'm not a coding expert so i will review it from the point of simplicity and usability. I'm running the latest version of WordPress. As for my feedback, it seems that this plugin has the basic functionality that anyone wants. I believe the check for duplicates, updates, custom fields, categories and tags are fine for my importing needs. So, i would like a review copy in order to evaluate that it works like it is intended to and if it's finally what i was looking for a long time, believe me, i will be very pleased and i will suggest it to many users around. Waiting for your response.

Louis, although I don't have 500 posts, I would be very interested in getting a hand on your review copy. I have posted on wordpress.org about your plugin and would also post a review there if positive. regards, tinus2
