Started with an idea so created a website hoping people will visit and use the website. Me make money.

Calling the power of WF senior member !

  1. What should be the next steps ?
  2. More importantly what should be the pace of ordering the WF services/trade and in what order so as not do more harm than good?

Presumably starts with .. Directory Submission. Mind boggling offers out there on Sell /Trade section leaves me absolutely confused.:hollering:

None of the above.
First determine what sort of traffic source you aiming for.

Your options are pretty much
Search
Social
Payed

For search you need something people are searching for and a few skills you can learn on this forum.
For social you need something with viral potential - Things don't go viral because you say "it will be viral" in your business plan.
For payed you need a really high rate of return. - For some reason this tends to be the easiest method.

- Stay the fuck out of the buy sell trade section until you have a coherent plan.

Strangely , on giving it second thought and looking at my site .. it is a probably a mix of all three traffic types you mentioned ! And yes, I am not a serial website churner, I just own one .It is a modest start. I am not in a hurry.

I need search traffic , I need help socially ( so I dished out a facebook APP for the same site) but not sure paid traffic fits the bill .

"- Stay the fuck out of the buy sell trade section until you have a coherent plan" -

That is exactly what makes my mind go blank . What is 'the' coherant plan to stick to?

FYI, I did go ahead in my excitement and ordered a few services...(only the ones that are highly reviewed). I will now stop !

Is it allowed in WF to ask senior members for a honest review for a website and ask for constructive criticism. Or am I ok to PM it across when asked ?

Senior Members ...do keep posting ! I know these are basics, let us newbies learn !

If you`re aiming for search traffic, keyword research should be part of your planning and creation of the site. ie. you want to be targeting certain search terms in your site title and page/category titles and content. If you don`t do this and don`t aim for highly searched low competition keywords, getting search traffic could be a much longer fight than you`re expecting (and will cost you a lot of money if you go into the BST section). Unless your site has tons of content and naturally gets some search traffic for longtail keywords you basically used by accident. But if it`s brand new I doubt it has tons of content.

Some thoughts:
- Familiarise yourself with Google Keyword Tool if you haven't already.
- Download a trial of Market Samurai and have a play. There are good video tutorials in the Market Samurai dojo that can help you.
- Complete a review of the competitor sites that are ranking for the keywords that you want to rank for.
- Check your "On-Page SEO" - get the fundamentals right
- Keep building fresh content on your site
- Start building links (either manually or paid) and track impact on your search engine rankings. Assess what works for you and do more of it!
