Soo like 1 year ago i bought a domain at yahoo , there was some kind of promotion and the domain was like 5$ or 10$... i had to create a yahoo user then i bought a domain.

1 year later, i check my credit card statement and i got charged 38$ ... im like wtf... it says yahoo with the phone number. Of course i never go check my yahoo emails because, well i dont use yahoo and i only created that account to buy the domain, so i didnt see the renewal notice... event tho i didnt authorize this renewal, they did it anyways at the freaking huge price of 38$ ... wow ...

So i call them up, and listen to the robotvoice give me the options, there is an option 4 " if you got charged by yahoo and dont know why" lol ... thats shows how many people must be calling...

So i talk to the person and they cancel it, but they do remind me that its my fault because bla bla bla read the TOS bla bla bla ....

they are so gay...

usually i would not have took the time to deal with this... but i just dont like yahoo soo i had to...

That's not them ripping you off, that's you being too impatient to read fine print and screwing yourself over.

When it costs registrars about $5 to register a domain themselves, you REALLY think they're going to do something at or below cost, without some sort of catch?

Don't blame others for your own mistakes.

uhm im not blaming anyone dude relax,
All im saying is Yahoo is ripping people off... which is good for them cuz im sure it works pretty well ! its just not nice :)

Normally I would not have bothered to call, I just would would have shut my mouth but then I realised how many people must have got caught.... its freaking yahoo they dont need to rip people off to make money... so i decided to call... and saved 40$...

Its a well know fact that most people dont read the fine prints, which is why they are called that way...

Anyways...

just watchout if you have a yahoo registered domain name and dont want to renew it at 35$

Ya same bullshit happened to me. I even transfered the domain before it renewed but apparently I didn't cancel the "service" so they charged me for that so lame.

they aren't ripping people off. Plenty of domain registers charge $40/per year every year.

All the promotion campains try to attract people with low price, sometimes they intend to make the other necessary info be not striking. That's why we just foncus on the low price.
