Yahoo Search May Test Google Ads

Yahoo Inc. is close to announcing that it plans to carry search advertising from Google Inc. as part of a test that could lead to a broader partnership, according to people familiar with the matter.
The short-term test, involving a very limited percentage of Yahoo's Web search queries, is designed for the two sides to evaluate the revenue potential of a broader search ad outsourcing arrangement. They have been discussing such an arrangement as part of Yahoo's pursuit of alternatives to Microsoft Corp.'s unsolicited acquisition offer, according to people familiar with the matter.

Yeah. So now we get yahoo's spam site partners that we can't opt out of and their 250 domain blocklist for parking pages. I switched 75% of my PPC budget from YSM to AdWords over a year ago because YSM's traffic is such poor quality. Now I'm gonna be paying AdWords prices for it. I hope AdWords will just add them as part of the "Search Network" so we can opt out.
 
Those were exactly my thoughts when I first read about this.

I'm also not excited at all about the possibility of Google (or any company for that matter) controlling 90%+ of the search ad market.
 
They are saying its just an "experiment" hopefully its fucking just that and no more.
 
Well if you don't like the Yahoo traffic you could always disable search network and it should get rid of it. I actually find that yahoo traffic (content network off) converts better then google traffic depending on the campaign of course. I think its funny that for once microsoft is getting fucked.

Microsoft has been getting fucked steadily since the internet turned out to be more than just a passing fad. Consequences of missing the boat. Unlike what they do with their software, though, they can't just rip off Apple this time.
