I have read a lot here on wickedfire. I try to soak in as much as possible, test things myself, then ask questions while in the middle of things. I searched WF for this question, and wasn't able to answer my question.

I have done a few hundred dollars in the last month and a half. I started out on Google's Adwords, then moved to Yahoo for the cheaper clicks. I must say I have gotten more conversions on Yahoo. I think it has to do with the sponsored results as people think that they are part of the search results. (which they are, but they are paid ads lol).

Anyways, now that I have gotten the feel of what is going on, I have a few things to scale my campaigns. I am needed to track converting keywords. I have all the tracking and analytics turned on for Yahoo. I also have a php redirect for my direct link testing campaigns. (I direct link to test, then create a landing page to scale up the campaign.) In the php redirect, I have the location header pointing to the nbjump url. Then after the ?> php tag I have the Yahoo tracking code, then the google analytics code. I have done about 12 conversions last night while having the code up, but it still doesn't show the conversions in Yahoo. No ROI, nothing. While talking to my AM, he suggested a tracking pixel. (Not for them to steal data as I have read in other posts around here. I actually mentioned the need to track.)

I think I am confused on what to give him for the Yahoo Tracking Pixel. I have the SCRIPT code for the Yahoo Analytics, but it doesn't say "tracking pixel" anywhere. This code was found at "Administration > Analytics". Now I should be able to set it as dynamic, and just ad 2.25 after amount= right? Then give that code to my AM to add to that specific campaign?

I am also looking for help in finding better and cheaper keywords. I am using Keyword Spy right now. I have about 60 keywords for the dating niche. I have found some that get over 1000 clicks/month and only cost me like 30cents for 50% of the shared impressions. Others cost like 80cents just to enter. So finding some more of the cheap keywords that get a good amount of clicks would be helpful in boosting my campaign as long as they are targeted.

I gave my yahoo tracking code to my NBA am but I never saw it tracking a single conversion

I don't care because I have coded my own tracking stuff using NBA pingback url and this waY I can easily track conversions from other networks that have pingback (postback or call it as you prefer) tools
 
You are correct about the yahoo pixel. It is a large piece of javascript, and can't be converted to a simple IMG pixel. Also, If there is another Yahoo pixel on the page already, the first one placed on the thank you page will work - and yours won't. Also, it may not be possible for them to actually place your pixel in the backend of their system because the pixel is rather large and a lot of networks limit the character length of the pixel. I'm not totally sure about Neverblue's limit, but I would ask your rep. There are ways around placing a giant pixel like putting it into a .html page, uploading that to your server, and making them place that URL as an IMG pixel. That may or may not work, so the only thing I can recommend is you setup your own tracking with prosper202 or another piece of software like it. It's always better to keep that conversion data to yourself anyway - wouldn't want Yahoo to take a look at your stats and magically make you pay more because they see your conversion rate is good (I'm not saying that they do this, but they theoretically could).
 
Thank you for the prompt replies. That leads me to another question. I downloaded Prosper202, uploaded it to my server and tried to access it. I got a message saying it needed something to run. The server has PHP and MYSQL support. I was in a hurry, and am about to leave for work or I would run it and give you the message it said it needed. It was a system like php or something, but for the Prosper script... Anyone have a link to a tutorial or infomation on how to setup and use Prosper202?
 
Thanks Nickycakes. I opened the link, and will read it later. I just got off work, and it was a long night. (I hate nights) So Im off to bed.

I am running a dating campaign that has converted okay for testing the past 2 nights. But last night I only got 6 clicks... Looks like if I take out "free chat" or some of the other chat keywords, I lose a lot of traffic/clicks. At least I didn't blow 20 bucks overnight on tons of clicks and just a few conversions. So I actually saved money :P
 
I keep getting a message about "Zend Optimizer". Check out http://www.free-loan-information.com for a detailed message about my error. Now when reading the instructions that nickycakes linked to, it says to upload to the root directory of that domain. Well I use 1&1, and have 2 domains running off the same hosting. My primary one that runs off the root is shudogg.com, then I have a folder named "/freeinfo", then the domain free-loan-information.com is directed to the free info folder. So technically I have uploaded prosper to the root of the domain free-loan-information, but it isn't the root of my hosting.

Do I need to get another, seperate hosting? I really don't want to pay per month for another. If so, then is there a free web host I could use? I used to use x10, but they pause your account if you don;t login every two weeks.

I have same question before. Used 30 sec to search "sub domain site:prosper202.com", and 1 min to find right answer in their forum. Less time than you typed it.
 
your name says it all, doesn't it dick... son.. anyways, I figured it out. And yes, dick, i searched google, but the obvious answers found were not my problem. The problem was that 1and1 uses an old version of Zend. I had to figure out how to upgrade it on my server. Now I am using prosper202 and tracking.. now I can go to bed, finally, its 9:30am :(

TIA doesn't apply, as sarcastic, rude and immature comments should be kept to themselves. As many people here have probably installed prosper on many different servers, maybe someone could have pointed me in the right direction as my problem wasn't just simple.

Do us all a favor and ctrl+alt+del your life...
 
i have had a problem with yahoo pixels tracking at neverblue also. Ive emailed my am many times about it, she doesnt know why its not working
 
My Yahoo script never started firing. I have heard it's because someone elses is above mine and that it only fires the first one on the page. I am not sure, but I am uber unpleased with Yahoo. The interface is nicer and cleaner, but it lags way behind sometimes, I hate the wall it automatically pulls out money all the time (froze my card), the conversion tracking sucks and doesn't work 80% of the time, I could go on. The only real benifit is the cheap clicks. Scale your campaigns up in Yahoo for a few weeks, then run to Google and profit.

I got prosper all up and running, it has been tracking clicks while I slept today. I got 4 conversions out of about 20 clicks in a matter of a few hours. Not too bad for just tracking my keywords. I imported the subids into prosper, but it still doesn't show the conversions... I am heading to the prosper boards now.
 
If you are using a subid with neverblue, strip the part of the subid you created at neverblue and only input the autogenerated number that prosper adds to the end of your neverblue subid and you will see conversions in prosper202. Must be a bug.
 
Thank you Caspah, I posted it at their forums and got a reply back about it. It would be nice to add a static text to the subids to track it better. Like I could use dating1 dating2 ect. That way I don't have just a bunch of numbers... oh well, still isn't too difficult.

I did fook somehting up with the url and waste about $20 worth of clicks overnight. (I was working and not able to check back on it.) Got home, logged in, and went wtf.!!!
