Hey Bloggers & Marketers.

I'm running an Internet marketing consulting company now, and I'm about to integrate a corporate blog into our web content mix.

I want the blog to have maximum impact for the time and effort it's going to take to update and maintain, not to mention plan out and launch.

My question is this:

Which Approach Do You Think Would Be Most Appreciated/Effective:

a. Keynote discussions from experts within the firm & industry leaders

b. Personal tips & other news (sometimes off-topic) from Owner-CEO

c. On-Topic Industry Related articles for SEO only

d. Porn (joke)

Obviously, in a perfect world, I could just say "a mixture of all of those", but I've seen too many commentless blogs to buy that.

Anyways, if you have any input on this, I'd love to hear it.

A, B, and C, go with those choices :)

This is something that cannot be known without testing it out but in my own opinion and blogging experince I think I would go with option A first and then include option B every once and awhile.

The problem with writing tips and tricks is that you probably won't think of a good one each and every day but other days you might come up with a hundred, so stick with one main topic and blog about that each and every day.

Option 1 seems like a pretty good main topic, including the tips and tricks, maybe once per week will be a really good addition, even the tips/tricks/ and SEO stuff once a week or so will be good to toss in with your main subject because they are pretty much related anyway.

I agree 100%.

Here's what I'm really stuck on here: The overall theme of my website.

let's say my corporate website is correctad.com.

I'm wondering if I should do a correctad.com/blog and have it be all about CorrectAd and the industry -

or

the blog could go to my personal JeremyEstes.com (revamped of course) and be about Jeremy Estes the owner/CEO of CorrectAd and Expert in whatever.

I'm probably WAY overthinking this, but I (like almost everyone else) want to have a popular, sticky blog that makes people want to do business with me.

So, which do you think would be more likely to create a following?

I would go this route except for one fact if you do something like correctad.com/blog then you'll have to make correctad.com an actual website featuing something, your particular business and then include a link somewhere saying to get industry news/tips/ or additional corporate info visit our blog. Then keep your blog about industry news/tips/ and you can include your corporate information inside of that.

People would deem it more un-professional if you just re-direct them to your personal blog, keep your personal blog personal and once your corporate blog becomes popular you can toss up a post saying introducing the CEO of "Whatever", if your curious to find what type of life our CEO lives you can visit his personal blog at blablabla.com.

be about Jeremy Estes the owner/CEO of CorrectAd and Expert in whatever.

This right here is perfect for your personal blog, Jeremy Estates Owner of correctads.com expert in whatever. Then you can blog about yourself and include some business aspects, you'll have a ton of freedom and if people are interested enough in your corporate blog, they will come over and read your personal blog just because.

This will enable you to project a proper image of yourself, whatever image you see fit, you don't have to lie but you don't have to include everything about your life, you can make it as professional or relaxed as you wanted.

Your answer makes a ton of sense. + REP

I'm going to go that route. I just have 1 last question. Does it matter terribly if the Blog doesn't look like the website?

What I mean is, I can't find a theme that looks like my site... is that something that typically stands out even?

It doesn't have to look exact no, but the closer the resemblance the better, I take it you don't know how to create your own theme for your blog?, that would be the easiest route, if not you could outsource the work or you could just as well make sure it has at least your own logo, make it so the end user reading it and finding the blog through the website will be able to relate to it and you'll be fine.
