Your Religion/Spirituality

Raised Southern Baptist Christian, more of a Buddhist and Hindu now. Those satisfy my intellectual side in addition to my spiritual needs. They offer more complex and mature reasoning rather than emotionally based offerings.

I am Hindu btw

You are not your religion. We are all born as only one thing, one label and that is Human. The religion you identify with is most likely a function of your location in the world and the indoctrination by the people who influenced you at an early age. This is so limiting. My recommendation is to begin the unlearning process as soon as possible.

Yes. I am not my religion. All religions worship the same one and only god/nature but in different forms (If you understand this fact, religion would not limit you). In my view all beings are the manifestation of the same god/principle. I don't want to limit this within the 'humans' only. For example - I am a vegetarian as I don't want any being to be killed for me.

Where do you see the limiting?

I like this story as told by Anthony de Mello...

A man found an eagle's egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen. The eaglet hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them. All his life the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet into the air.

Years passed and the eagle grew very old. One day he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among the powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat on his strong golden wings. The old eagle looked up in awe. "Who's that?" he asked. "That's the eagle, the king of the birds," said his neighbour. "He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth - we're chickens." So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that's what he thought he was.

long story short - You are what you think you are. But, unless you are right you are not really what you think you are. Just search who you really are until you get the answer. Until you find the correct answer, you are one of the eagle that identifies itself as chicken.

If you are too concerned just read my post as "My religion is Hinduism" instead of "I am Hindu". However that was the answer of OP's question.
