Your tips for entering an equity arrangement

Howdy.
There is a possibility that I will enter into an arrangement where I will get compensated for my technical work on a site through equity. What has been your experience with equity arrangements? Any tips on what to look out for/things to insist on?

I was told by a knowledgeable person that this can be done through a regular contract. Should the shareholders' agreement be involved in this as well, though? :bigear:

Whatever you do make sure its checked by a lawyer. Or at the very least read it very carefully and have others do so too.

What if the site turns out to be a bust and there is no equity to give you?
